Job Description
- Job Title: Scale House Assistant
- Job Description
- The Scale House Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for truck drivers and visitors entering and leaving the facility.
This role processes truck transactions, maintains accurate records, answers phones, coordinates with operations staff, handles paperwork, and delivers professional, courteous customer service in a fast-paced industrial environment. Comprehensive training will be provided on all scale house systems, procedures, and site operations.
- Responsibilities
- + Serve as the first point of contact for truck drivers and visitors arriving at and departing from the facility.
+ Process truck transactions accurately, including weighing vehicles, recording load information, and issuing tickets or documentation.
+ Enter, update, and maintain precise data and records in computer systems and logs.
+ Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, routing inquiries and messages to appropriate personnel.
+ Coordinate daily activities with operations staff, including site personnel and equipment operators, to ensure smooth traffic flow and transaction processing.
+ Prepare, organize, and file paperwork related to loads, tickets, orders, and other scale house documentation.
+ Provide clear, courteous, and professional customer service to truck drivers, vendors, and site personnel.
+ Multitask effectively in a high-volume environment, managing phone calls, in-person interactions, and data entry simultaneously.
+ Monitor and verify information for accuracy and completeness, ensuring attention to detail in all transactions.
+ Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality to support consistent site operations.
+ Communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms with drivers, vendors, and internal staff.
+ Follow established scale house procedures and comply with site safety protocols, including use of required safety equipment when outside the office.
+ Collaborate with the broader office team and site staff to support ongoing construction, recycling, and aggregate operations.
+ Represent the facility in a professional manner at all times, maintaining a calm and helpful demeanor in a busy environment.
- Essential Skills
- + Customer service experience in a customer-facing role.
+ Strong data entry skills and computer proficiency.
+ Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and data entry applications.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
+ High level of attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and transaction processing.
+ Professional phone etiquette and ability to manage frequent calls.
+ Dependable attendance and punctuality.
+ Solid organizational skills to manage paperwork and information flow.
+ Ability to interact professionally with truck drivers, vendors, and site personnel.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Reliable transportation to and from the facility.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Experience in restaurant, hospitality, retail, receptionist, front desk, or administrative roles.
+ Experience handling transactions, tickets, orders, or scheduling.
+ Experience working in fast-paced environments with frequent customer interaction.
+ Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
+ Familiarity with construction labor or heavy equipment operations such as excavators, skid loaders, dump trucks, pay loaders, or general construction labor is beneficial but not required.
+ Experience in scale house operations is not required but would be advantageous.
+ Experience in the construction industry, aggregate, recycling, or trucking industry is not required but considered a plus.

- Work Environment
- The position is based in a scale house office located within an active industrial and construction materials facility centered on the sorting and recycling of demolition debris and aggregates such as sand, gravel, crushed stone, and recycled asphalt and concrete.
Work involves a combination of office-based tasks and regular interaction with truck drivers and site personnel. The environment is fast-paced with frequent phone calls and customer interactions. The office is climate-controlled, with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions when stepping outside to coordinate with site operations. Business casual attire is expected in the office, and required safety equipment must be worn when working or walking outside in the facility. The site operates multiple quarry crusher machines and supports ongoing projects related to recycling and resale of construction materials, offering daily collaboration with an internal office team and various partner companies.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $18.
00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
