We are seeking an experienced Material Handling Manager to support the delivery of a major data center construction project in the United States. The Material Handling Manager will take ownership of the receipt, storage, tracking, movement, and distribution of materials and equipment across the project site . This individual will work closely with project management, procurement, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to ensure critical materials are available when and where they are needed. The successful candidate will have strong experience within large-scale construction, data centers, mission-critical, electrical, mechanical, or industrial projects , with a proven ability to manage high volumes of equipment and materials in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage all material handling, logistics, storage, inventory, and site distribution activities. Coordinate the receipt and inspection of incoming materials and equipment. Maintain accurate records of material deliveries, quantities, locations, and inventory. Coordinate with procurement teams, vendors, subcontractors, and field leadership regarding delivery schedules. Ensure materials are delivered to the correct work areas in accordance with the construction schedule. Plan and manage laydown areas, warehouses, storage facilities, and staging locations. Track long-lead and critical-path equipment to minimize the risk of construction delays. Oversee loading, unloading, movement, and staging of materials throughout the project site. Identify shortages, damaged materials, incorrect deliveries, and potential supply-chain issues. Coordinate replacement or corrective action for damaged or missing materials. Ensure materials are properly stored and protected to prevent damage or deterioration. Manage and supervise material handlers, warehouse personnel, and logistics teams as required. Work closely with project superintendents and trade partners to understand upcoming material requirements. Support electrical and mechanical teams with the movement and staging of major equipment. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized material handling operation. Ensure all operations comply with project-specific EHS requirements and applicable OSHA requirements . Produce regular inventory, delivery, shortage, and material status reports for project leadership. Preferred Experience 5+ years of material management, logistics, warehousing, or supply-chain experience within construction. Previous experience on data center or mission-critical construction projects strongly preferred. Experience supporting large electrical, mechanical, industrial, semiconductor, manufacturing, or commercial construction projects will also be considered. Strong understanding of construction sequencing and material requirements. Experience managing high-value electrical and mechanical equipment is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of inventory control and material tracking systems. Experience coordinating deliveries in busy construction environments with multiple contractors and trades. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven construction environment . Strong focus on safety, planning, organization, and accountability. Desirable Certifications OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Forklift / Powered Industrial Truck certification Rigging or material handling training First Aid / CPR Relevant logistics, warehousing, or supply-chain certifications What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a hands-on Material Handling Manager who understands that successful material management is critical to maintaining the construction schedule. You will be proactive rather than reactive, anticipating upcoming requirements, identifying potential shortages before they impact the field, and maintaining close communication between procurement, logistics, construction management, and trade teams . Data center experience is highly desirable , particularly experience managing materials associated with electrical and mechanical infrastructure such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, transformers, busway, cable, conduit, HVAC equipment, and other mission-critical systems.
