About United Spray United Spray is a rapidly growing specialty subcontractor specializing in spray-applied fireproofing, spray foam insulation, and acoustic coating for commercial construction projects. Based in Chester, NY, we are committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and on-time work across the Northeast.
Position Overview:
United Spray is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Spray Fireproofing Superintendent to lead field operations across multiple commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for managing crews, ensuring quality installation of fireproofing systems, maintaining safety standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget. Projects are located throughout the Northeast and are often spread across multiple states. This position requires a high level of flexibility and a willingness to travel frequently, including extended travel depending on project locations. This is a key leadership position with strong growth potential as the company continues to expand. Key Responsibilities Field Operations Management Oversee day-to-day operations of spray fireproofing projects (SFRM & Intumescent) Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials across multiple job sites Work closely with Project Managers and Estimators to execute project plans Reviewing drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure proper installation Leadership & Crew Development Supervise and support foremen, sprayers, and laborers Train and develop field personnel to improve performance and efficiency Enforce accountability and maintain high productivity standards Quality Control Ensure all fireproofing applications meet manufacturer specifications and code requirements Perform site inspections and maintain quality documentation Coordinate inspections with third-party testing agencies Safety Management Enforce company and OSHA safety standards Conduct regular safety meetings and job site audits Ensure proper use of PPE and equipment Scheduling & Coordination Maintain project schedules and proactively address delays Coordinate with GCs, other trades, and site supervisors Attend job meetings and represent United Spray professionally
Working Conditions:
Majority of time spent on assigned job sites, with exposure to construction environments and varying weather conditions. Regular coordination with clients, Project Managers, and Warehouse personnel, with regular travel to multiple sites as required. Requires availability to address project and crew needs, including potential after-hours coordination for urgent issues. Regular handling of paperwork and project documentation to ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with client and GC requirements. 60+ Hours per week average
Requirements:
Proven experience in construction or specialty contracting supervisory role, with strong leadership and project coordination skills. In-depth knowledge of project budgeting, material management, and quality control. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, project managers, and crew members. Strong organizational skills for tracking production goals, budgets, and project documentation. Ability to diagnose and manage equipment issues and perform minor repairs as necessary. Ability to read and understand project documents and follow technical instructions. Proficient in operating and maintaining Graco, HyFlex, or similar pump systems. Comfortable working at heights and using scaffolding, lifts, and ladders. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Must be authorized to work in the United States. OSHA 30 Certification & SST Card Certification in operating Scissor lifts and Boom Lifts & Lull. Background check required. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience with Procore or other construction management software. Previous experience as a Superintendent or in a similar supervisory role. Familiarity with the materials, equipment, and methods used in United Spray's trade. Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously, including labor allocation and budget tracking. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions to keep projects on track. Familiarity with client-facing communications and managing client expectations on large or complex job sites.
