Our work primarily supports commercial clients across the telecommunications, electric, gas, and water utility industries. Position Overview CDL Utilities is seeking a Junior Project Manager (Construction) to support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects throughout Long Island. This position is ideal for someone with construction experience who is looking to grow into a Project Manager role. You will work closely with senior project managers, field supervisors, and operations teams to help coordinate projects from pre-construction through closeout while gaining hands-on experience managing schedules, documentation, customers, and field operations. Experience in underground utility or telecommunications construction is highly preferred, but candidates with general construction project coordination or management experience are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Assist Project Managers with planning, coordinating, and tracking multiple construction projects simultaneously. Review customer job scopes, plans, specifications, and project requirements. Conduct field visits and site surveys to gather project information and verify existing conditions. Help develop job layouts, project plans, and work packages for field crews. Coordinate pre-construction activities including utility mark-outs (811), permits, inspections, and required documentation. Work with municipalities, utility companies, and customers regarding permits, scheduling, and project requirements. Coordinate with operations, field supervisors, and crews to ensure projects are properly scheduled and prepared. Communicate project updates with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams. Monitor project schedules and assist in identifying potential delays or field issues. Help prepare project estimates, material takeoffs, pricing, and scope reviews. Track project costs, production, and profitability while supporting budget management. Identify potential change orders and assist with documentation and pricing. Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, as-builts, and closeout packages. Support quality control efforts and ensure projects are completed in accordance with company and customer standards. Perform other project-related duties as assigned. Qualifications 0-3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or project management (at least 1 year of experience preferred). Experience in underground utility, telecommunications, civil, or heavy construction is strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.). Ability to work both in the office and in the field. Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout Long Island. Preferred Qualifications Experience with underground utility, telecom, fiber optic, or civil construction projects. Familiarity with permitting processes and utility mark-outs (811). Experience with project scheduling, estimating, or cost tracking. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is a plus. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is a plus. $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
