Afterschool Site Director
Job Description
The Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens Club Site Director oversees the daily programming site, afterschool-based staff (regarding Club-specific issues/systems), and the Assistant Site Director. The director must possess strong leadership skills, be able to adapt to a changing environment, and be a positive communicator. The Site Director will work full time from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays Responsibilities & Expectations (but are not limited to): Oversees Assistant Site Director and Afterschool Staff Hold regularly scheduled check-ins or supervisions to ensure progress is made on any projects, identified goals, and upkeep of all responsibility on their respective job descriptions Conduct yearly evaluations- performance reviews based on program requirements and curriculum/theme expectations Manages program expenses and budget Work with Assistant Site Director to monitor and adjust the daily program schedule, as needed to reflect club activities, special events, volunteers, programming partnerships, etc. Creates and oversees all recreational and educational club activities and events for afterschool programming Monitor and provide updates to administration, parents and staff Actively participate in core team meetings, sharing relevant data, highlighting concerns and developing solutions. Leads, develops and facilitates effective communication with school leadership team regarding programming and updates Build relationships with students, parents, Community Based Organization (CBO) Administration, and school staff The liaison between the Operations Manager and Executive Director frequently (program events, updates, staffing, expenses, etc) Assigns jobs/tasks and roles to staff as needed for the program to meet contractual requirements and maintain a safe and fun experience for members Ensure accurate attendance tracking and reporting, via VBGCQ Programming Website (ASAP) and DYCD, applications and attendance, enrollments Meet contractual requirements regarding enrollment and attendance. Respond to all electronic and phone communication within two (2) business days. Coordinate and execute all major events and activities along with other VBGCQ Program Directors. Prepare and share a monthly calendar of events, programs, meetings, and activities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
4-year degree in related field (e.g., education, child development, recreation and leisure , etc.) from college or university or an accredited. Master's degree a plus. A minimum 3 years of progressively responsible work experience planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of youth Experience working with
DOH -SACC
Program Requirements (MUST) Strong leadership skills and ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands from several people Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of others Ability to work efficiently meeting deadlines, and effectively under pressure. Familiar with Socio-Emotional and Trauma-Informed practices. Must be Familiar with all
DOH/ DOE
regulations
Strong & Professional:
Communication Skills, both Verbal and Written Proficient in Internet use, Microsoft Office, and Google apps
