We are hiring an MEP Site Superintendent to own the field on our active installation projects across the NYC metro area, including NYCHA and affordable housing portfolios. This is a field leadership role. You are accountable for the quality, safety, compliance, daily documentation, and on-time completion of MEP projects from mobilization through close-out. You need deep hands-on knowledge of commercial boilers, heating systems, and MEP trades — and the discipline to maintain rigorous daily reporting, direct crews, manage subcontractors, and run a job site independently while keeping your project management team fully informed. Responsibilities Daily Reporting & Documentation (Non-Negotiable)
  • Submit a Construction Daily Report via the company's project management system every day crews are on site (typically 3-4 PM), documenting work performed, crew counts, subcontractor activity, equipment status, and site photos.
  • Submit a Safety Report (Daily / Incident) via the company's project management system every day during construction (typically 10 AM-2 PM), identifying at least one near-miss or hazardous condition, documenting mitigation actions, and confirming a safety discussion was held with the crew.
  • Supervise the foreman's Daily Pre-Shift Meeting form submission for accuracy, completeness, and quality. Ensure all crew members understand the day's goals, assigned tasks, and associated safety risks.
  • Maintain and update construction tasks in the project management system daily: update man-days used, confirm crew photo uploads, close completed tasks same-day, and flag schedule deviations to the PM immediately. Site Leadership & Execution
  • Serve as the primary on-site authority — present whenever work is underway, responsible for all field activity.
  • Direct in-house foremen and crews to execute MEP installations per construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and scope compliance; identify and correct deficiencies promptly. Track sub progress, photos, and notes in corresponding construction tasks within the project management system.
  • Manage multiple active job sites simultaneously as required.
  • Be available when your job site needs you — if a problem or issue arises on a weeknight or weekend, you are expected to be reachable and responsive. This role carries accountability beyond standard business hours. Schedule Tracking & Coordination
  • Own and maintain the project schedule: prepare construction tasks with complete scope descriptions, materials lists, drawings, site access info, and crew assignments per company workflow standards.
  • Verify material lists with the foreman. Ensure that no construction task is scheduled without a confirmed material list.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, subcontractors, deliveries, and vendors in critical path with the PM team.
  • Coordinate on-site sequencing with internal Dual Fuel trades (controls/Axxon, electrical, service) alongside subcontractors and vendors.
  • Prepare and submit 2-week construction look-aheads weekly in coordination with the PM.
  • Track man-days burned versus budget, project the next two weeks' burn, and flag labor overruns to the PM with root cause.
  • Attend the weekly Site Super / PM meeting prepared to review the 2-week look-ahead, task status, manpower plans, field issues, cost tracking, and safety.
  • Consult with design engineers and subcontractors to plan and sequence work ahead of mobilization.
  • Assist in purchasing and procurement in coordination with the PM team. Quality Control & Safety
  • Establish and enforce site quality control standards; perform ongoing inspections through close-out and punch list completion.
  • Train building operators and customers on new equipment upon project completion.
  • Enforce all safety programs, PPE compliance, hazard analyses, hot works permits, and GC requirements.
  • Manage OSHA logs, incident reporting, and all required safety and compliance documentation on site. Coordinate all info with Director of HR and General Foreman.
  • Collect and enforce daily prevailing-wage sign-in sheets on site and submit same-day.
  • Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in advance of high-risk or atypical work sequences and review with crews on the first day of work. Project Management Support
  • Attend site meetings with architects, customers, engineers, and city agencies as required.
  • Communicate RFIs, submittals, and drawing conflicts to the PM team promptly via the company's communication and project management tools.
  • Identify and document change-order triggers and field conditions for the PM to price and process; support walkthroughs for new-scope evaluations.
  • Proactively flag risks, schedule slips, access issues, and coordination conflicts upstream to the PM — do not wait to be asked. Required Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License — required. Daily travel between job sites.
  • OSHA 30 Certification — required.
  • NYC SST Card (40-Hour total with OSHA) — required.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial MEP construction experience with deep knowledge of commercial boilers and heating systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of steam heating, hydronic heating and cooling, pumps, fuel oil systems, and applicable codes.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting construction documents, drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to interface with crews, subcontractors, engineers, and clients.
  • Demonstrated discipline with daily reporting and documentation — you will be expected to submit construction and safety reports every single day without exception.
  • Proficiency with project management and team communication software. Willingness to adopt new tools quickly. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cogeneration (CHP) systems, chillers, or general HVAC.
  • Knowledge of NYC mechanical and plumbing codes.
  • Prior experience on prevailing wage and NYCHA compliance projects.
  • Experience with field service management software (e.g., BuildOps, ServiceTitan, or similar).
  • Prior experience managing construction schedules in project management platforms (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project, or similar). What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • 100% daily reporting compliance — a Construction Daily Report and a Safety Report submitted every day crews are on site, on time, with complete information and photos.
  • Construction tasks updated same-day, field production tracked on shops and schematics, labor budgets tracked, completed tasks closed on time with proper documentation, schedule deviations flagged immediately.
  • 2-week look-ahead submitted weekly.
  • Proactive upstream communication — the PM hears about problems from you first, not from the client or GC.
  • Sign-in sheets, JHAs, and compliance documentation submitted on time, every time.
