  • 125,000 per year Benefits Medical and dental insurance 401(k) plan 10 days of paid time off after completion of the first year Six paid major holidays per year Company vehicle or vehicle allowance Position Summary Our Client is seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day operations of commercial construction projects.
The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, vendors, materials, equipment, inspections, quality control, and jobsite safety while ensuring that projects are completed according to plans, specifications, schedule, and budget. The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on construction professional who can effectively lead subcontractors and vendors, identify potential conflicts early, communicate clearly with the project team, and maintain a safe, clean, and productive jobsite. Essential Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee all phases of commercial construction from mobilization through project completion. Assist with developing, maintaining, and monitoring the project schedule. Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, vendors, materials, and equipment in accordance with the project's critical path. Verify that subcontractors are performing all work in accordance with their contracted scope, plans, specifications, and applicable codes. Monitor project progress and identify schedule conflicts, scope gaps, and potential delays. Communicate project issues and recommended solutions to the Project Manager and project team. Review and coordinate responses to RFIs, ASIs, material submittals, and other project documentation. Perform ongoing quality-control inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly. Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions and other authorities having jurisdiction. Identify and report subcontractor noncompliance with safety, health, environmental, quality, or contract requirements. Issue notices of noncompliance to subcontractors when work or scheduling requirements are not being met. Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor progress, workmanship, safety, site conditions, and upcoming activities. Maintain accurate written daily reports documenting manpower, activities, deliveries, inspections, delays, visitors, and other relevant jobsite information. Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and document action items. Prepare, manage, and complete project punch lists. Assist with obtaining permits, approvals, inspections, and approvals for revisions. Identify work that falls outside a subcontractor's contracted scope and communicate potential changes to the project team. Ensure the jobsite remains clean, organized, secure, and properly maintained. Open the jobsite at the beginning of the workday and secure it at the end of the day. Monitor manpower, materials, and resources to support completion within the approved budget and schedule. Maintain professional relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and company personnel. Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide leadership, direction, and problem resolution for as many as 30 or more subcontractors and vendors. Promote accountability, collaboration, safety, quality, and timely completion of assigned work. Required Qualifications Three to five years of verifiable experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a similar commercial construction leadership role. Verifiable experience managing commercial construction projects valued between $250,000 and $5 million. Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred. OSHA certification required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software. Experience with Microsoft Project, Sage Construction Management, ClockShark, and HoloBuilder preferred. Ability to travel to and work at assigned jobsites on a daily basis. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Knowledge and Technical Skills Ability to read and interpret commercial construction drawings, plans, details, and specifications. Strong understanding of construction means and methods, project specifications, building codes, and General Conditions requirements. Knowledge of jobsite safety practices and applicable health and environmental regulations. Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and activities while maintaining critical-path progress. Ability to identify construction conflicts, deficiencies, and scope issues and communicate them effectively. Proficiency with computers, email, mobile devices, project documentation, and digital reporting systems. Strong organizational, scheduling, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Responds promptly to project needs and requests for assistance. Follows through on commitments and accepts responsibility for assigned duties. Maintains confidentiality and represents the company professionally. Quality and Safety Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail. Promotes a safe and compliant jobsite. Monitors work to ensure it meets contract requirements and quality standards. Identifies opportunities to improve project execution and efficiency. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to lift up to 100 pounds to waist height. Ability to walk and remain active throughout the jobsite during the workday. Ability to access large commercial projects, including sites exceeding 200,000 square feet. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, elevated structures, and multi-story roof systems as required. Frequent movement throughout active construction sites. Ability to work outdoors and in changing weather and jobsite conditions. Ability to use a computer approximately four to five hours per day.
