Commercial Specialty Contracting Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, organized, accountable Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a growing commercial glass and glazing specialty contracting company. Our projects include fabrication and installation of architectural glass, windows, and metal facade systems. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for coordinating field operations, the fabrication shop, project management, manpower, scheduling, purchasing, safety, quality, and customer relationships. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive leadership style, deep construction expertise, and a passion for driving operational excellence. This person should be equally comfortable working with field personnel, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, and company leadership. The Operations Manager will play a key role in creating structure, improving efficiency, holding teams accountable, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the company's quality standards. Key Responsibilities Operations & Project Execution Oversee daily operations across active projects. Review project schedules and ensure manpower, materials, equipment, and other resources are available when needed. Identify potential delays, conflicts, and issues early and develop solutions. Monitor project progress and communicate priorities to field and office teams. Establish and maintain consistent operational procedures and standards. Assist with project planning, scheduling, and execution from contract award through closeout. Provide review of larger bids, providing input on pricing, risk, terms, resources requirements, and overall bid viability. Field Management Provide leadership and direction to field foremen and crews. Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate progress, productivity, quality, safety, and manpower. Ensure field teams have the information, tools, materials, and support required to perform their work efficiently. Address performance, productivity, attendance, and personnel issues as necessary. Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and respect. Scheduling & Resource Management Maintain visibility into upcoming project starts, manpower requirements, material needs, and equipment requirements. Coordinate labor allocation between projects by working closely with project managers and foremen to anticipate staffing and scheduling needs. Help establish realistic production schedules and hold teams accountable to commitments. Identify opportunities to improve labor utilization and overall productivity. Purchasing & Vendor Management Coordinate purchasing with project managers and field personnel. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Monitor material availability, deliveries, and potential shortages within the shop. Financial & Performance Management Work with project managers to monitor project profitability and performance. Identify cost overruns and operational inefficiencies. Safety & Quality Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures. Maintain high standards for workmanship and project quality. Assist with resolving quality issues, punch lists, callbacks, and warranty concerns. Establish a proactive approach to preventing recurring field and quality problems. Customer & General Contractor Relationships Maintain professional relationships with general contractors, customers, owners, and other project stakeholders. Assist with resolving project issues and customer concerns. Represent the company professionally in meetings and on jobsites. Team Development & Leadership Recruit, train, develop, and retain high-performing field and office personnel. Establish clear expectations and accountability for employees. Conduct or assist with performance reviews. Identify training and development opportunities. Build a strong culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, and customer service. Process Improvement Identify operational bottlenecks and develop practical solutions. Create and improve systems for scheduling, communication, purchasing, field reporting, and project tracking. Standardize processes where appropriate while maintaining the flexibility required in a specialty contracting environment. Introduce technology and tools that improve communication, productivity, and visibility. Continuously look for ways to make the company more efficient and scalable. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in commercial construction or specialty contracting. Previous experience in an operations, project management, superintendent, or field leadership role. Experience managing field crews and project managers. Experience working directly with commercial general contractors. Experience in estimating and scheduling. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, schedules, and contracts. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable working in both an office and field environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software. Strong understanding of job costing, labor productivity, scheduling, and project profitability. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between jobsites as required. OSHA 30 certification preferred Ideal Candidate The successful candidate is a doer and a leader who can move between the office and the jobsite and understands that a small contractor's success depends on strong communication and follow-through.

Develop reliable operational processes that allow the company to grow without sacrificing quality or service.
Pay:
$140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
