Construction Project Manager Direct and oversee daily construction operations for capital projects, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to approved plans and specifications. Partner closely with project managers, engineering teams, operations, maintenance personnel, EHS professionals, and contractors to support seamless project execution.
- Responsibilities Manage contractor onboarding, safety orientation, and field oversight while ensuring compliance with site policies, permit-to-work procedures, and safe work practices.
Track project schedules, manpower utilization, and construction progress, proactively addressing risks, delays, and resource constraints. Review engineering drawings, construction documents, and scopes of work to identify constructability concerns and recommend practical solutions. Coordinate site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment access, staging locations, and work area management. Support project cost management by validating contractor labor hours, reviewing invoices, and monitoring budget performance. Ensure construction activities comply with applicable building codes, industry regulations, environmental standards, and company requirements. Maintain detailed project records, including daily construction reports, change management documentation, punch lists, redline drawings, and turnover packages. Facilitate construction meetings, safety discussions, contractor coordination meetings, and project status reviews. Assist with equipment start-up, commissioning, testing, and project closeout activities. Promote a strong safety culture while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and effective teamwork across all stakeholders.
- Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
7+ years of construction management experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, energy, chemical, food production, or heavy industrial facilities. Experience managing contractors and multiple construction workstreams on active operating sites. Strong understanding of construction safety programs, permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout procedures, and contractor safety management. Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost tracking, progress reporting, and project controls. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Experience coordinating with engineering, operations, maintenance, and project management teams. Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software platforms.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
Experience supporting capital projects within a manufacturing environment. OSHA 30 certification or equivalent construction safety training. Experience with commissioning and startup activities. Familiarity with CMMS, project controls systems, or scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. PMP, CCM, or related industry certification.
- Work Environment The position is based in an office in Albany, as part of a long-term contract on the capex team.
