Job Description

Retronix Semiconductor is a recognized leader in engineering services, driving innovation across the semiconductor industry. Founded in 2004 in Scotland, we deliver cutting-edge solutions to manufacturers worldwide from our global headquarters in Glasgow and operational facilities in Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico and Ireland. Our comprehensive suite of services is expertly tailored to meet the diverse needs of the semiconductor sector. At Retronix, you'll thrive in a collaborative environment led by visionary leaders. Join over 650 global employees in a culture that values your expertise and supports your professional growth. You'll have the opportunity to make impactful contributions while advancing your career, drive technical innovation, and build lasting relationships with industry giants. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced, highly accountable Senior Program Manager to lead tool install execution for a customer-facing program within a fast-paced, high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment, leading a large team of technicians and engineers. Serving as the primary operational point of contact between the customer, Retronix management, Program Leads and operational teams, the Senior Program Manager will ensure tool install work is delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with established scope, key performance indicators (KPIs), safety and quality requirements and service standards. This position requires a highly visible and engaged leader who can manage customer relationships and employees, deliver best-in-class operational and financial performance, and react to changing install priorities while ensuring the operating system consistently delivers. This role would suit a proactive and commercially aware leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills who can balance customer expectations, employee leadership and install execution across a large technical workforce. The program covers new tool installation, conversion and upgrade across multiple OEM toolsets — deposition, etch, lithography, metrology, wet process, thermal, assembly and test — in an operating high-volume fab or advanced packaging facility. Work includes utility hookup for gas, chemical, DI, exhaust, vacuum and electrical; utilities turn-on after install completion; exhaust test and balance; utility consumption and flowrate measurement; tool utility and cleanroom systems troubleshooting; and install documentation and turnover packages. The team is a large group of install technicians, senior technicians and engineers organized under Program Leads and Shift Leads, spanning multiple buildings or campuses where applicable. Main Duties & Responsibilities Customer & Operations Program Management Act as the primary operational contact for the customer and key stakeholders, owning the relationship and communicating performance using trends and facts. Oversee day-to-day site operations and SOW delivery, setting clear expectations and aligning them ahead of impact rather than explaining impact afterward. Manage customer escalations promptly, proactively identifying risks and driving swift issue resolution. Lead regular customer and operational performance reviews. Understand customer requirements and identify growth opportunities that do not degrade execution stability. Escalate any commitment or change affecting cost, scope, schedule or staffing before agreeing to it, including informal scope creep. Tool Install Execution & Schedule Set site-level install priorities and hold the install schedule against the customer's plan of record.
Own install project planning:
milestone sequencing, dependency mapping, resource loading, and the coordination windows required from OEM field service and trades. Plan and run the install project meetings — set the agenda, hold the attendee list, drive actions to closure with named owners and dates and publish minutes. Issue written status on a committed schedule: position against plan of record, milestone completion, open risks with recovery plans, and a clear summary of key messages. Commit to dates and be accountable to them. Dates given to the customer are dates the certified workforce can meet, and any slip is communicated with a recovery plan before the date passes. Coordinate with fab equipment owners and facilities to secure utilities release, keep tool release status current, and sequence Retronix crews with OEM field service and trade partners so hookup, leak check and qualification handoff land in the right order — maintaining a daily physical presence in the install areas, walking the tools and staying visible to technicians, trades and the customer.
Govern readiness against demand:
no install commitment is made that the certified workforce cannot execute, and capacity or skill gaps are escalated early at the Daily Site Review. Operational Governance Manage SOW delivery, scope, task definitions, plan-of-record alignment and contractual requirements, ensuring disciplined execution of the daily operating system. Monitor KPIs, service levels and overall program performance through trend-charted data rather than isolated events, acting on peoplerisk signals as leading indicators. Maintain accurate program records and documentation to support operational, quality, training, financial and customer requirements. Drive continuous improvement in efficiency and service delivery through structured problem solving, and support wider operational and business improvement initiatives. Leadership & People Management Lead, motivate and develop the operational team, promoting a culture of accountability, safety, quality and professionalism. Communicate priorities, expectations and performance standards, including annual performance reviews and employee relations matters in accordance with company policies. Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with direct reports, providing coaching, performance feedback, development support and followup, and hold Program Leads accountable for the same cadence with their teams. Own training, competency and certification requirements across every task family in scope, protecting training capacity when demand rises rather than consuming it. Oversee personnel and workforce changes including scheduling, pay amendments, headcount management and employee lifecycle administration. Maintain appropriate staffing levels against customer-approved headcount and install demand. Build bench strength and a visible progression path — Technician to Shift Lead to Program Lead to Program Manager — and own retention outcomes: attrition, early-tenure turnover and certification depth are management results, not market conditions. Financial & Administrative Management Manage program financial performance and billing accuracy. Review billing, attendance, timecards and supporting records; identify and resolve discrepancies and exceptions. Deliver the install program within the forecasted budget — labor hours, overtime, consumables, and rental or specialty equipment — forecasting labor demand against the install schedule and surfacing variance before it is spent. Collaborate with internal teams on financial and contractual issues, escalating formal and informal scope changes and financial risks. Protect margin through readiness and span of control rather than unbilled effort or hidden work. Safety, Quality & Compliance Hold safety as a prerequisite to execution, never a competing priority. No task proceeds if it is unsafe. Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and the customer's permit-to-work system, and confirm that risk assessments and safe work procedures exist and are current for every task in scope. Enforce stop-work authority at every level and make sure it is used without penalty.
Participate visibly in safety:
lead safety discussions, attend training with the team, and model safe work practices on the floor. Establish a regular area walk cadence to surface and close out safety, cleanliness, housekeeping, equipment maintenance and efficiency concerns, escalating hazards and near-misses immediately. Drive first-time-correct execution in full compliance with OEM and customer specifications, using execution data to find the system cause behind rework, punch-list volume and acceptance failures rather than inspecting for quality. Ensure employees comply with established procedures, quality standards, customer requirements, facilities discipline and applicable program policies.
Protect certification integrity:
uncertified work is a system failure, not an individual shortcut. Qualifications & Experience Required Education Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or industrial engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field; or an associate degree plus 10 years of directly relevant semiconductor experience; or equivalent military technical and leadership experience. Experience 8+ years in semiconductor manufacturing, tool install, or equipment services, including hands-on exposure to OEM install and hook-up standards. 5+ years leading technical teams through subordinate supervisors or leads, with demonstrated experience running 50 or more in a highvolume, schedule-driven environment. Fab start-up, hookup planning, or new module installation experience, from facilities readiness through tool acceptance. Direct accountability for a customer relationship or a contracted statement of work, including performance reviews with the client. Experience working inside an operating fab or advanced packaging facility under customer EHS, gowning, and protocol requirements. Technical Subject-matter depth in semiconductor equipment installation — rigging and move-in, leveling and placement, facilities hook-up (process gas, chemical, DI, exhaust, vacuum, electrical), leak check and OEM qualification handoff — enough to judge whether an install method, hookup design or acceptance package is correct, challenge a method on the floor, and step in technically when a job demands it.
Trade coordination:
scheduling rigging crews, pipefitters, electricians and specialty trades, sequencing their work against Retronix tasks, and clearing permits, badging and area access. Fluency with lockout/tagout, hazardous energy control, confined space, chemical handling, and fall protection standards as they apply in a fab environment. Ability to read and work from install drawings, facility layouts, P&IDs, and OEM install manuals, and to identify and escalate discrepancies before they reach the floor. Leadership and system discipline Demonstrated ability to manage through a leadership chain — setting standards and reviewing performance rather than absorbing execution. Track record of building training and certification systems, not just completing training checklists, with evidence of retention and internal promotion outcomes. Comfort delivering unwelcome facts to a customer early, with data, and holding a position that protects stability. Working knowledge of structured problem solving (PDCA, 8D, A3, or equivalent), continuous improvement practice, and trend-based KPI analysis. Other Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently while maintaining a hands-on, on-site leadership presence. Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, and ability to meet customer site access and background requirements. Valid driver's license. Preferred Demonstrated experience directing supervisory staff across a large technical workforce spanning multiple buildings or campuses. Prior experience on the supplier side of a semiconductor services contract, managing a contracted workforce inside a customer's fab. Experience managing Statements of Work, customer contracts, workforce planning and headcount. OEM-certified install or field service background on one or more major equipment platforms. Experience identifying program growth opportunities and supporting cross-functional projects. Formal certification in safety or quality systems:
OSHA 30, CSP, ASQ
CQE/CQM, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt. PMP or equivalent project management credential. Work Environment This is a hands-on, site-based operational leadership position requiring regular interaction with customers, Program Leads, technicians and Retronix Semiconductor management. The Senior Program Manager must be comfortable working in a dynamic, high-volume semiconductor environment and maintaining an active presence within the areas supported by the program. This is a salaried, exempt position on a standard Monday to Friday schedule. As with most salaried roles, occasional night or weekend support may be needed during ramp, shutdown or critical install windows, but it is not the standard expectation. Work is performed in an operating semiconductor fab or advanced packaging facility, including cleanroom and subfab areas, requiring full gowning and adherence to customer protocol. Exposure to process chemicals, hazardous gases, high-voltage equipment, elevated noise, and confined spaces; respirator and specialized PPE use may be required. Frequent walking, standing, stair and ladder use, and access to elevated platforms and subfab levels during the working day; ability to lift and carry up to 25 lb occasionally. Must pass customer-required medical clearance and drug screening. Travel up to 25%. Apply today and come and join our close-knit, ever-growing team at Retronix Semiconductor.
