Job Description

Position Overview The Junior Project Manager / Estimator is a developmental leadership role responsible for supporting estimating, project coordination, and project execution activities primarily within the Pipe Fitter division. This role exists to develop future Project Management and Estimating leadership within Master Mechanical Corporation through hands-on exposure to bidding, job costing, field coordination, scheduling, material flow, and project financial management. This position works directly under/with a Senior PM / Estimator and will gradually assume increased responsibility over a 12-18 month development path. The Junior PM / Estimator is expected to learn company systems, understand project financial performance, and develop the operational discipline required to eventually manage projects independently. The role is designed for individuals who demonstrate strong organization, communication, accountability, and a willingness to learn the operational and financial side of commercial mechanical contracting. Core Responsibilities Estimating Support & Bid Preparation
  • Assist Senior PM / Estimator with preparing estimates for pipefitting projects utilizing company Bid Sheets
  • Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and labor calculations
  • Help gather vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Support scope review and identification of missing information
  • Learn company estimating systems and pricing structure Project Coordination & Execution Support
  • Assist with project setup and coordination activities
  • Support scheduling alignment between office, field, and shop
  • Help track project progress, manpower, and production updates
  • Participate in project meetings and coordination discussions
  • Support issue tracking and resolution during project execution Job Costing & Financial Awareness
  • Learn and review project budgets and job cost reporting
  • Track labor performance and production updates through BusyBusy
  • Assist with identifying variances between estimated and actual performance
  • Support Senior PM / Estimator with financial visibility and reporting
  • Develop understanding of labor efficiency, margin, and profitability drivers Change Order & Scope Support
  • Assist with tracking potential change order opportunities
  • Help gather field information and documentation related to changes
  • Support pricing and submission of change orders
  • Learn contract scope management and documentation procedures Communication & Client Support
  • Maintain professional communication with field teams, vendors, and clients
  • Provide updates regarding project status and material coordination
  • Support alignment between Field Operations, Shop, and Project Management
  • Escalate issues, delays, or concerns to Senior PM / Estimator Material Flow Coordination
  • Assist with tracking material procurement and delivery schedules
  • Coordinate with vendors and shop personnel regarding material readiness
  • Help ensure materials are available to support field production
  • Track shortages, delays, or procurement issues Learning & Professional Development
  • Participate in ongoing training and development activities
  • Develop understanding of project financial management and estimating
  • Learn company operational systems, workflows, and communication structure

This role supports operational consistency, project coordination, and long-term scalability by developing future Project Management and Estimating leadership from within the organization. Strong performance in this role creates operational support for senior leadership while building the technical, financial, and communication skills required to successfully lead projects independently in the future.
