5/18/26 Job Description The Manager of Construction is the subject matter expert for the major capital project organization within the organization. The MoC contributes to project results that achieve business objectives, while complying with standard work practices as defined by the Project Management System. The Construction Project Manager works with project managers to ensure construction work processes, and staffing for the projects are effective. The MoC contributes to Front End Loading and early planning to bring maximum value to the business through effective leadership of cost and capital project planning and implementation process. Support company's project portfolio with management and staffing of the construction function. Includes construction coordination, planning, QA/QC, field material control, constructability input. Ensure appropriate safety programs are in place and executed effectively. Collaborate with Project Managers on approach and plan for a given project. Participate in selection and contracting for construction contractors. Responsible with the Project Manager for acquiring and releasing project resources as needed during the life of the project. Staff, manage and coach field coordinators and other resources for each project. Effective communications within the Project Teams to ensure alignment on objectives. Ensure each construction team member understands their role and deliverables. Develop and utilize metrics for control of safety, cost, schedule, quality in construction. Will have assistance of project controls. Drives capital project work processes and practices as described in the GPM Manual. Coordinate with Procurement organization to ensure that contracting is executed in compliance with Policies and applicable laws. Ensures commissioning and turnover plans and systems are effective and followed. Ensures operations and maintenance procedures are prepared. Collaborates with Project Managers to facilitate the overall process and address design issues that impede construction performance. Ability to manage safe work environment and program which includes but not limited to job site safety analysis, rigging plans, environmental risk planning Contingency planning expertise and knowledge Ability to identify, assess and manage risk Required Experience Construction manager with 15+ years of experience in Construction Management in the process industries: chemical, petrochemical or refining. Experience in implementing comprehensive behavioral-based safety programs. Leadership of field construction coordinators, planners and other staffing. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Ability to use remote IT tools effective in a team environment. Confident and concise in communicating with professional and managers who are not in project roles. Understanding of the fundamentals of all engineering disciplines involved in a typical chemical industry project (Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Process Automation / DCS, Civil, Structural etc). Constructibility in phase-gated front end development and engineering. Owners Construction experience managing contractors. Proven ability to lead and manage of a team and to quickly develop positive working relationships. Ability to work across business functions. Proven ability to build trusting professional relationships, leverage senior management, and navigate a dynamic organization. Preferred Qualifications A Bachelor's degree, in engineering or Construction Management is strongly preferred. Suitable experience may be acceptable in lieu of.
