Construction Operations & Process Improvement Manager Scottsdale Concrete Inc. - Phoenix /
Scottsdale, AZ Compensation:
$100,000-$125,000 per year + performance bonus
Position:
Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire option available About Scottsdale Concrete Scottsdale Concrete Inc. is a growing concrete contractor serving Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Phoenix and surrounding areas. We specialize in concrete foundations and related concrete construction. We are looking for an experienced Construction Operations & Process Improvement Manager / Industrial Engineer to work directly with ownership and help us build the systems and processes needed to scale our company. This is a hands-on position. You will spend time with ownership, project managers, estimating, office staff and field crews to understand how work currently gets done, identify inefficiencies and implement better systems. Your Mission Help us build a scalable operating system for Scottsdale Concrete. You will evaluate and improve our complete workflow: Lead → Estimating → Proposal → Follow-Up → Contract → Project Handoff → Scheduling → Purchasing → Field Production → Inspections → Concrete Placement → Change Orders → Billing → Collections → Closeout The goal is to create simple, measurable and repeatable systems that improve efficiency, profitability and accountability while making the company less dependent on ownership managing every detail. Responsibilities Map and document current business processes Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas where time or money is being lost Create and implement SOPs, workflows and checklists Improve estimating-to-project-management handoffs Improve scheduling and manpower planning Develop purchasing and material-ordering systems Standardize pre-pour and inspection procedures Improve field-to-office communication Improve daily field reporting Develop change-order procedures Improve job-cost tracking Compare estimated vs. actual labor and material costs Improve billing and collection workflows Establish company KPIs Build management dashboards Identify opportunities for software and automation Train employees on new processes Measure whether new systems are actually being followed and producing results Qualifications 4+ years of experience in industrial engineering, process improvement, continuous improvement, construction operations, manufacturing operations or a similar operational environment Proven experience designing and implementing business processes Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience developing SOPs, workflows and KPIs Comfortable working with both office personnel and construction field crews Strong communication and leadership skills Construction experience strongly preferred Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus, but not required What We're Really Looking For We are not looking for someone who only writes reports or recommends changes. We want someone who can come into our company, understand how we actually operate, identify problems, build practical solutions, implement those solutions with our team and measure the results. First 90 Days During the first 30 days, you will learn and document our existing operation by working directly with ownership, project managers, estimating, office staff and field crews. During days 31-60, you will identify the highest-priority operational problems and begin implementing improved workflows, SOPs, checklists and accountability systems. By day 90, we expect key systems to be operating, employees to be trained, KPIs to be established and a roadmap to be developed for continued improvement. Compensation $100,000-$125,000 per year, depending on experience, plus performance bonus. We are also open to a 90-day contract-to-hire arrangement for the right candidate.
