Job Title:
Traveling Mechanical Project Manager (HVAC) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Traveling Mechanical Project Manager specializing in HVAC to oversee large-scale commercial construction projects across the United States. This individual will be responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience managing complex mechanical systems for projects such as data centers, healthcare facilities, manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, higher education, pharmaceutical facilities, or other large commercial construction projects. This role requires extensive travel and offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects with a growing organization. Responsibilities Manage all phases of commercial HVAC projects from award through project completion. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and financial forecasts. Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. Oversee procurement of equipment and materials. Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals. Manage subcontractor performance and project execution. Monitor labor productivity, project costs, and budget performance. Prepare and negotiate change orders. Conduct regular jobsite visits to ensure quality, safety, and schedule compliance. Lead project meetings with internal teams and clients. Coordinate commissioning, startup, testing, and project closeout. Ensure compliance with all company safety standards and applicable building codes. Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers as needed. Qualifications 5+ years of Mechanical Project Management experience. Strong background managing commercial HVAC construction projects. Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects. Knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, controls, and building automation systems. Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control. Experience managing subcontractors and vendor relationships. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar construction management software. Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
