BHR Custom Homes Part-Time / Piece-Rate Position | Potential to Grow Into Full-Time BHR Custom Homes is looking for an organized, dependable Pre-Construction Coordinator to help manage the preparation and bidding process for residential remodeling and custom home projects. This position is currently structured as a part-time, piece-rate role, meaning compensation will be based on assigned projects and completed pre-construction tasks rather than a traditional hourly schedule. As BHR continues to grow, this position has the potential to develop into a full-time role for the right person. About the Position The Pre-Construction Coordinator helps take a project from a signed pre-construction agreement through the point where subcontractor pricing, selections, and project information are organized and ready for final estimating and review. This person will work closely with homeowners, subcontractors, project management, and company leadership. The goal of the position is simple: make sure all of the information needed to accurately price and prepare a construction project is collected, organized, and completed on time.
Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities will include:
Contacting customers to gather project selections, finishes, fixtures, materials, and other necessary project information. Helping customers understand which selections need to be made before accurate pricing can be completed. Maintaining organized records of customer selections and project specifications. Scheduling pre-construction bid walkthroughs with subcontractors and vendors. Coordinating walkthrough times between homeowners, BHR, and subcontractors. Reviewing project plans, scopes, and available information before bid requests are sent. Preparing and sending clear bid requests to the appropriate subcontractors and suppliers. Making sure subcontractors understand exactly what portion of the project they are being asked to price. Following up with subcontractors to ensure bids are received by the requested deadline. Identifying missing pricing, incomplete bids, or unclear scope items and getting clarification. Organizing subcontractor bids, vendor quotes, selections, and project information into a complete bid package. Maintaining organized digital project files so information can be quickly located by the project manager or estimator. Communicating regularly with company leadership regarding outstanding selections, missing bids, scheduling issues, or other items preventing the project from moving forward. What This Position Is Not This position does not require you to independently sell or close construction projects. You will also not be expected to make final decisions regarding project pricing or company profit margins. Your responsibility is to make sure the information needed to make those decisions is complete, accurate, organized, and delivered on time. Ideal Candidate The right person for this position will be extremely organized and comfortable managing many small details at the same time. Construction experience is helpful, but strong organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to learn construction terminology are equally important. We are looking for someone who: Is highly organized and detail-oriented. Can manage several projects and deadlines simultaneously. Is comfortable following up repeatedly when information or bids are late. Communicates professionally with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, and coworkers. Is confident making phone calls, sending emails, and coordinating schedules. Can take a project checklist and independently work through it without needing constant supervision. Notices missing information instead of simply passing incomplete information along. Is comfortable asking questions when something in a scope, plan, or bid does not make sense. Has strong written communication skills. Is comfortable working with spreadsheets, PDFs, email, cloud-based files, and construction/project-management software. Can accurately enter and organize pricing and project information. Is dependable and follows through on assignments. Can prioritize urgent items and keep projects moving forward. Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following areas would be valuable: Residential construction Remodeling Custom home construction Construction estimating Interior design or material selections Construction project coordination Subcontractor coordination Purchasing or procurement Office or administrative project management Prior construction experience is preferred but not required if the candidate is highly organized, learns quickly, and is comfortable communicating with contractors. Skills That Will Make You Successful A successful Pre-Construction Coordinator should be able to look at a project and constantly ask: What information are we still missing before this project can be accurately priced and built? You should be comfortable taking ownership of finding that information rather than waiting for someone else to point out what is missing. Attention to detail is critical. A missed fixture selection, missing subcontractor bid, unclear scope item, or incorrect project detail can affect thousands of dollars in construction pricing. Schedule & Compensation This position will initially be part-time and paid on a piece-rate/project basis. Workload will fluctuate depending on the number of projects currently moving through BHR's pre-construction process. Because much of the work involves customer communication, subcontractor communication, and scheduling, some availability during normal business hours will be required. As BHR Custom Homes continues to grow its remodeling and custom home pipeline, this position may expand into a regular part-time or full-time position. We are looking for someone interested in growing with the company rather than simply completing occasional administrative tasks. About BHR Custom Homes BHR Custom Homes is a Utah residential general contractor focused on remodeling, additions, and custom home projects. Our goal is to provide customers with a professional construction experience by doing the planning, pricing, and coordination required before construction begins. We believe strong pre-construction creates smoother projects for homeowners, subcontractors, and our project-management team. To Apply Please send a resume along with a short introduction explaining: Any experience you have coordinating projects or construction. Why you believe you would be good at managing subcontractors, customer selections, and project details. Your current availability.
