Job Description

Job Site Superintendent Position Summary The Job Site Superintendent is responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and daily execution of construction activities at assigned project sites for STAR Community Builders. This role emphasizes vertical construction—managing structural work, framing, building envelopes, interior finishes, finish carpentry, and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades—while maintaining appropriate oversight of site utilities as needed. The Superintendent provides on-site leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget expectations, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards. Experience Focus The ideal candidate is a results-driven Construction Superintendent with a minimum of 7 years of field leadership experience and hands-on expertise spanning excavation, framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finish carpentry through final finishes and flooring. The Superintendent is skilled in managing day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors and multiple trades, maintaining production schedules, resolving field issues, enforcing safety standards, and driving successful project completion. Scheduling and Delivery Focus The Superintendent is accountable for scheduling subcontractors, tracking progress, and ensuring timely material deliveries to meet milestones. This role prioritizes proactive schedule management, progress tracking, and cost control to deliver projects on time and under budget while protecting project margins and quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide on-site leadership and supervision for residential and commercial construction projects.
  • Coordinate daily construction activities, schedules, manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Review construction plans, drawings, specifications, and project schedules to coordinate field execution.
  • Supervise construction activities from site preparation through vertical construction, finishes, inspections, and final completion.
  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and multiple trades to ensure work is performed in the proper sequence.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate schedule updates, delays, site conditions, and other issues to project management.
  • Monitor labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor utilization to support productivity and cost control.
  • Review scopes of work and identify gaps, conflicts, and opportunities to improve project execution.
  • Identify construction issues, conflicts, and potential delays keeping project on or ahead of schedule
  • Identify, document, and coordinate field-generated change orders and communicate potential cost and schedule impacts to project management.
  • Manage subcontractors and hold trade partners accountable for schedule, quality, safety, and workmanship.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections and maintain communication with inspectors, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure the job site is maintained in a safe, organized, and professional manner and that required safety practices are followed.
  • Monitor delivery, storage, and use of materials and equipment on the job site.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of activities, progress, site conditions, changes, delays, and significant issues.
  • Drive completion of punch-list activities, inspections, and project turnover.
  • Work collaboratively with project management to maintain schedules, control costs, protect project margins, and achieve successful project completion.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to construction operations as assigned. Required Qualifications and Experience Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, Site Superintendent, Foreman, or similar construction leadership position.
  • Significant experience in residential and commercial construction with strong emphasis on vertical construction and finish work.
  • Hands-on knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, materials, and job-site coordination.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, multiple trades, and complex construction activities simultaneously.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, and coordinating construction change orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify potential cost, schedule, quality, and construction risks and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment and meet project deadlines.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards for safety, quality, workmanship, and cost control.
Work Environment This position is primarily based on active construction job sites and requires regular interaction with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel. The position requires the ability to work outdoors and around active construction activities, equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions. Physical Requirements The position may require standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, and moving through active construction areas. The ability to safely navigate job sites and perform the physical activities necessary to inspect and oversee construction work is required.
Pay:
$58,370.37 - $70,295.50 per year
