About Cornerstone Construction Group Cornerstone Construction Group is a veteran-owned, fast-growing commercial builder delivering ground-up construction and renovation projects throughout Texas. We specialize in small and midsized developments across retail, medical, office, and industrial property types and guide owners and investors through each phase of construction. We operate with a lean, entrepreneurial team and prioritize ownership, accountability, integrity, transparency, teamwork, quality, and dependable execution. Team members are expected to solve problems independently, make sound decisions, communicate directly, and remain accountable for results. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager to lead multiple projects from preconstruction through construction, financial administration, and final closeout. This role combines project leadership, procurement, financial management, stakeholder communication, and operational process development. The successful candidate will have substantial experience managing both ground-up commercial construction and renovation projects, generally valued at approximately $500,000 to $10 million. This position may offer the opportunity to assume increasing responsibility and advance into broader operations leadership as the company grows. Responsibilities Oversee all phases of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout Manage multiple ground-up and renovation projects concurrently, generally valued at approximately $500,000 to $10 million Lead subcontractor solicitation, bid evaluation, buyout, contract negotiation, and scope alignment Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with subcontractors, superintendents, vendors, clients, and design professionals Manage procurement activities, identify long-lead materials, and confirm supplier delivery commitments Track client selections, design decisions, submittals, testing requirements, and other dependencies affecting project execution Manage project financials, including budgets, cost controls, monthly forecasts, payment applications, funds-control documentation, payments, and reconciliations Review subcontractor invoices and validate completed work in coordination with superintendents and subcontractors Select, engage, coordinate, and manage subcontractors, vendors, superintendents, and site teams Enforce project schedules, safety requirements, quality expectations, plans, specifications, and applicable building codes Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, construction documents, contracts, and project specifications Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders to align expectations and address project challenges Conduct jobsite and trade-completion inspections to verify progress, craftsmanship, approved methods, and compliance with plans and specifications Coordinate with superintendents to ensure daily logs, current plans, schedule updates, and required project documentation are maintained Provide clients and internal leadership with accurate updates regarding project status, financial performance, risks, and required decisions Anticipate and resolve scheduling, financial, technical, procurement, quality, and jobsite issues with limited supervision Develop and implement repeatable construction and operational processes that improve project delivery and support company growth Mentor junior project managers and project personnel while reinforcing accountability and execution standards Qualifications Seven or more years of progressively responsible commercial construction experience At least five years of project-management experience involving both ground-up commercial construction and commercial renovations Demonstrated success managing multiple commercial projects valued at approximately $500,000 to $10 million Experience leading subcontractor buyout and negotiating pricing, scope, schedule, and performance expectations Strong experience managing project budgets, cost controls, forecasts, payment applications, funds-control requirements, payments, and reconciliations Experience developing and maintaining construction schedules and procurement plans Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction documents Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, safety standards, testing requirements, and applicable building codes Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and comfort working extensively in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and PDF documents Experience with construction-management, scheduling, and document-review platforms such as Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, or comparable systems OSHA 30 certification and a comprehensive understanding of construction safety requirements Degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred; exceptional equivalent experience will be considered Experience developing construction processes and operational improvements preferred What We Are Looking For Highly accountable and committed to dependable execution Self-directed and effective with limited day-to-day supervision Able to understand the larger objective and determine appropriate next steps independently Comfortable balancing multiple active projects and competing priorities Decisive when circumstances require action, while remaining careful and precise in matters involving scope, contracts, budgets, and project financials Comfortable negotiating, addressing professional disagreement, and holding subcontractors and team members accountable Resourceful and capable of navigating ambiguity in a growing organization Clear and proactive communicator who can represent the company effectively with clients and external stakeholders Collaborative leader who establishes expectations, supports the team, and asks for help when necessary Committed to safety, craftsmanship, integrity, quality, and continuous improvement Comfortable working in a lean, fast-growing, performance-driven environment Location and Travel Full-time, in-person position based in Conroe, Texas Regular presence at the Conroe office is required when not visiting jobsites Local travel to Houston-area jobsites, occasional travel to Austin or Dallas, and infrequent travel elsewhere in Texas may be required Reliable personal vehicle required;
