Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Superintendent specializing in Retail Construction to lead and oversee large-scale retail development projects from inception to completion. This role demands a proactive leader with exceptional management skills, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering high-quality construction within schedule and budget. As a Superintendent, you will coordinate all on-site activities, manage subcontractors and crews, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and uphold the highest standards of construction excellence. Your leadership will be instrumental in transforming project plans into reality while fostering a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment. Duties Oversee daily construction site operations, ensuring projects progress on time, within scope, and aligned with quality standards. Manage and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure safety protocols and project specifications are strictly followed. Coordinate project schedules using construction management software such as Primavera P6 and manage critical path activities to meet deadlines. Review blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and construction documents to interpret project requirements accurately. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor safety compliance according to OSHA and federal construction safety regulations; implement corrective actions as needed. Collaborate with project managers on budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation; assist in construction estimating and managing contracts. Ensure quality control through detailed review of construction drawings, schematics, and technical specifications; oversee construction schedule coordination for seamless workflow. Utilize tools like ProCore, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other construction management software to document progress, track issues, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Lead safety meetings, enforce OSHA standards, and maintain a safe work environment for all personnel on site. Manage subcontractor performance evaluations and ensure all work complies with industry regulations and project specifications. Requirements Proven experience managing retail or commercial construction projects with a strong background in heavy commercial build-outs. Extensive on-site construction experience with a focus on supervising teams in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in construction management software including ProCore, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other relevant tools. Strong understanding of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and construction schedules. Knowledge of federal safety regulations such as OSHA standards related to construction safety management. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately; experience with Ohmmeter use is a plus for electrical troubleshooting. Excellent management skills with the ability to lead crews effectively while maintaining high safety standards. Skilled in managing budgets, scheduling projects efficiently, and coordinating multiple trades simultaneously. Effective communication skills for managing teams and collaborating with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders. Valid experience in managing contracts and understanding construction regulations applicable to retail environments.
