Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Pre-Construction Project Manager (Thermal Generation) for a leading utility-scale power generation client. This individual will serve as the preconstruction integration lead for large-scale thermal generation projects, focusing primarily on combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) and simple-cycle peaking facilities.
Day-to-Day:
  • Lead preconstruction planning activities for thermal generation projects
  • Coordinate project readiness efforts from development through execution handoff
  • Manage EPC, equipment supply, early works, and specialty package RFPs
  • Facilitate bidder communication, RFIs, addenda, bid reviews, and contractor interviews
  • Support contractor selection, recommendation-to-award packages, and governance approvals
  • Develop procurement strategies for long-lead power generation equipment
  • Coordinate supplier engagement, manufacturing schedules, inspections, and delivery planning
  • Track procurement milestones and integrate them into project schedules
  • Lead logistics planning for oversized and critical equipment shipments

  • 3 years experience managing RFPs/bid processes within thermal power generation
  • Experience leading or supporting competitive RFPs for thermal generation EPC, power island, balance-of-plant, or major equipment scopes
  • Practical knowledge of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) and Simple Cycle Gas Turbine (SCGT) power plant systems and project execution
  • Experience evaluating contractor/vendor proposals, normalizing commercial offers, identifying scope gaps, and documenting bid risk
  • Long-lead equipment procurement planning and supplier schedule management experience
  • Working knowledge of heavy-haul transportation and project cargo logistics
  • Ability to interpret project schedules, equipment delivery plans, cost estimates, technical specifications, and commercial agreements
  • Direct experience supporting utility-scale CCGT or SCGT/peaker projects from development through award or execution
  • Experience with major gas turbine OEMs and thermal balance-of-plant contractors
  • Owner-furnished equipment (OFE) and equipment reservation/slot agreement experience
  • Experience procuring turbines, HRSGs, generators, transformers, cooling systems, emissions systems, or plant controls
  • Heavy-haul logistics experience involving port, rail, barge, customs, crane, or rigging coordination
  • Primavera P6 proficiency
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and electronic bid-management platform experience
  • Familiarity with EPC contracts, supply agreements, Incoterms, warranties, liquidated damages, insurance, and risk-of-loss provisions
