We are seeking a skilled and motivated Substation Crew Foreman to lead field crews in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical substations. This position is responsible for directing day-to-day crew activities, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in substation construction, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to enforcing safety expectations and quality workmanship in the field. Crew Leadership and Oversight:
Direct and supervise daily activities of assigned crew members, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project expectations.Safety Enforcement:
Lead daily tailboards/JSA discussions, enforce all safety policies, including proper use of PPE, adherence to Minimum Approach Distances (MAD), and Stop Work Authority. Immediately address and correct unsafe behaviors.Work Execution:
Perform and oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of substation components including, but not limited to, grounding systems, conduit, control wiring, structural steel, and equipment setting.Project Coordination:
Work closely with the Substation Superintendent to execute project plans, meet deadlines, and maintain productivity standards. Communicate job progress, delays, and material needs.Training and Development:
Mentor and train crew members on proper work methods, safety procedures, and company expectations. Assist in developing less experienced employees.Equipment and Material Management:
Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are on-site, accounted for, and used properly. Conduct and verify pre-trip inspections and proper equipment handling.Quality Control:
Ensure all work meets company standards, client specifications, and industry requirements. Review completed work for accuracy and compliance.Documentation:
Complete and submit required documentation including daily reports, JSAs, tailboards, equipment logs, and safety records accurately and timely.Communication:
Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Superintendent, crew members, and other teams. Represent the company professionally on job sites.Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve field issues, escalating concerns when necessary to prevent delays or safety risks.Position Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in substation or electrical construction. Previous leadership or crew lead experience preferred. Valid driver's license required; Class A CDL preferred or required within 6 months of hire. Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.Experience & Skills:
Strong knowledge of substation construction practices, electrical systems, and safety standards (OSHA, NESC). Proven ability to lead crews and enforce company policies and procedures. Experience with reading and interpreting construction drawings, one-lines, and specifications. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Working knowledge of tools, equipment, and machinery used in substation construction.Physical Requirements:

This position operates primarily outdoors at substation job sites and requires exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and precipitation. The role involves working around energized equipment, high-voltage systems, and heavy machinery. The position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven terrain.
