Job Description

Position Overview The Installation Superintendent serves as the primary field operations leader for our commercial millwork installation division. This role is responsible for the end-to-end coordination of subcontracted installation crews, ensuring that every project is delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the quality standards that define our reputation in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. The Superintendent acts as the critical link between our internal project management team and our customers - serving as the face of our company on the job site and the first call when questions or issues arise. This is a high-visibility, field-facing leadership role suited for a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of commercial millwork and finish carpentry, strong crew management instincts, and the communication skills to build lasting relationships with general contractors and ownership groups. Key Responsibilities Scheduling & Subcontractor Management Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed installation schedules across multiple concurrent projects in coordination with the internal project management team. Source, qualify, and manage a reliable network of subcontracted installation crews throughout the DFW metroplex and surrounding areas. Assign and dispatch crews based on project requirements, skill sets, availability, and sequencing priorities. Monitor subcontractor performance in the field, ensuring work is completed on time, on budget, and to specified quality standards. Review daily/weekly labor reports and flag discrepancies to project managers promptly. Proactively identify scheduling conflicts, manpower gaps, or crew performance issues and implement corrective action before they impact the customer. Customer & General Contractor Relations Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors regarding field questions, concerns, sequencing discussions (in conjunction with the internal PM), and issue resolution. Attend pre-construction, coordination, and progress meetings with GCs, owners, and other trades as required. Respond to job site RFIs, punch list items, and scheduling change requests in a timely and professional manner. Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with GC superintendents and project managers to drive repeat business and referrals. Represent the company with professionalism, clear communication, and a solutions-first mindset in all customer interactions. Internal Project Coordination Collaborate daily with project managers to align installation schedules with shop production timelines and delivery windows. Communicate material readiness requirements, site access conditions, and sequencing dependencies to ensure seamless handoffs from production to installation. Report field conditions, scope changes, and potential change order opportunities to the PM team in a timely manner. Maintain accurate documentation of daily field activity, crew hours, and site conditions using company-designated tools and formats. Participate in post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and process improvement opportunities. Quality Control & Job Site Safety Conduct regular site visits to inspect installation quality, verify progress against schedule, and ensure work meets contract specifications. Enforce company quality standards and installation best practices across all subcontracted crews. Ensure all crews comply with applicable OSHA standards, site-specific safety requirements, and general contractor safety programs. Coordinate punch list completion and final inspections, ensuring closeout is completed efficiently and to the customer's satisfaction. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial millwork, architectural woodwork, or finish carpentry — with at least 2 years as a crew foreman or field leadership role. Demonstrated experience managing labor crews across multiple job sites. Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing, GC operations, and job site protocols. Proficiency reading and interpreting architectural drawings, millwork shop drawings, and specifications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable engaging directly with GC superintendents, project managers, and ownership. Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities without loss of detail. Proficiency with scheduling tools, project management software, and standard office applications (Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, or equivalent). Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record; reliable transportation for frequent site visits throughout the DFW region. Preferred Experience with AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) quality standards. Bilingual English/Spanish — a significant advantage given the composition of many installation crews in the region. Familiarity with Procore, PlanGrid, or similar construction management platforms. OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Prior experience in a commercial millwork manufacturing or fabrication environment.
