Build Your Career with Liesfeld Contractor We're seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of heavy civil and site development projects throughout the Greater Richmond region. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to coordinate project activities, monitor progress, manage documentation, and help keep projects safe, on schedule, within budget, and to Liesfeld's quality standards. 7:00 AM-3:30 PM | Average 58+ hours per week •schedule may vary based on operational needs, emergency repairs, and field demands• Key Responsibilities Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil and site development projects Coordinate daily project activities, including field crews, subcontractors, materials, equipment, and deliveries Monitor project progress, production, quantities, schedules, and resource needs Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance with plans and specifications Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and project documents Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports, meeting minutes, and project correspondence Track project costs, quantities, production rates, and schedule performance Coordinate procurement and follow up with vendors and subcontractors to ensure materials and services are available when needed Communicate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams Help identify and resolve field issues, scheduling conflicts, and other project challenges Participate in project meetings and provide updates on project status, scheduling, logistics, and resource needs Assist with project closeout, including punch lists, final documentation, and turnover requirements Support compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and quality standards Required Qualifications 2-5 years of construction experience, preferably in heavy civil, site development, utility construction, or related work Working knowledge of construction operations, project coordination, scheduling, and logistics Understanding of site development activities, including grading, utilities, storm drainage, and infrastructure Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project needs Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents Valid Virginia driver's license with an acceptable driving record Legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field Experience with construction project management, scheduling, or field management software Experience with estimating, budgeting, job costing, or project cost controls Previous internship, co-op, or field experience in construction Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field crews Physical Requirements Ability to work in both office and active construction environments Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, and navigate uneven terrain on active jobsites Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to consistently wear required PPE and follow jobsite safety requirements Why Join Us Full-time position with a respected family-owned contractor serving the Greater Richmond region for over 50 years Work on meaningful heavy civil and site development projects Gain hands-on experience across all phases of construction Learn from experienced Project Managers and field leaders Build relationships across Operations, Estimating, Safety, and Field teams Opportunities for career advancement into Project Management and leadership Be part of a team that values safety, accountability, teamwork, and quality Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision benefits Disability and life insurance 401k retirement plan with employer match Employee recognition and perk programs Paid time off and paid holidays Career advancement and professional development opportunities Supportive, team-oriented work environment Ready to take the next step in your construction career?
