Full-time | On-site Vallum Associates is supporting a rapidly expanding data-center developer with the appointment of a Mechanical Commissioning Manager for its Northern Virginia portfolio. This client-side position will ensure critical mechanical infrastructure is correctly installed, tested and prepared for operational handover. You will work across construction, commissioning and operations teams on large-scale, mission-critical developments. The Role You will manage the mechanical commissioning process from design and installation reviews through functional testing, integrated systems testing and final acceptance.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Developing commissioning plans, programs and testing strategies
  • Reviewing mechanical designs, equipment selections and sequences of operation
  • Inspecting installations and confirming systems are ready for testing
  • Overseeing functional performance and integrated commissioning activities
  • Recording deficiencies and driving corrective actions through to closure
  • Coordinating commissioning milestones with construction schedules
  • Supporting Factory Acceptance Tests and equipment witness testing
  • Managing contractors, consultants and third-party commissioning agents
  • Conducting readiness reviews ahead of start-up and building acceptance
  • Reviewing test records, commissioning reports and handover documentation
  • Ensuring operations teams receive appropriate system training Systems may include chillers, cooling towers, pumps, hydronic systems, air-handling equipment, computer-room cooling, coolant distribution units, controls, ventilation and fire-protection systems. Candidate Profile
  • Seven or more years of mechanical commissioning experience
  • Data-center critical-facilities or comparable mission-critical experience
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling and mechanical plant systems
  • Experience reviewing designs and commissioning procedures
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, system start-up and handover
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA and relevant industry standards
  • Strong contractor, stakeholder and program-management capabilities This is an on-site position based in Ashburn.
