Ownership / President Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, driven, and hands-on General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our traffic control company while helping drive continued growth through business development and sales. This position is responsible for overseeing field operations, employees, customers, scheduling, safety, equipment, and financial performance. In addition to managing the business, the General Manager will play an active role in developing new customers, maintaining key relationships, identifying sales opportunities, and growing revenue . The ideal candidate is a strong leader who understands the traffic control, construction, or related service industry and is equally comfortable managing people and operations as they are building relationships and winning new business. Key Responsibilities General Management & Operations Oversee the company's daily operations and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and profitably. Manage and support field personnel, supervisors, and administrative staff. Oversee project scheduling, staffing, equipment, vehicles, and resources. Ensure traffic control operations meet company standards, customer expectations, and applicable safety requirements. Monitor job performance, productivity, labor costs, and overall profitability. Establish and maintain operational procedures and accountability throughout the organization. Address employee, customer, and operational issues promptly and professionally. Work closely with ownership on company strategy, budgeting, growth, and long-term planning. Help recruit, train, develop, and retain quality employees. Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure employees follow company policies and industry requirements. Sales & Business Development Develop new business opportunities with contractors, municipalities, utility companies, developers, event organizers, and other potential customers. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities for additional services. Make regular sales calls, attend customer meetings, job walks, and industry events. Prepare or coordinate estimates, proposals, and bids. Follow up on leads and proposals and actively move opportunities toward closing. Develop a strong understanding of customer needs and position the company as a reliable, high-quality traffic control partner. Track sales opportunities and maintain an active pipeline of prospective customers. Work with operations to ensure new business can be serviced profitably and effectively. Help establish sales goals and develop strategies to achieve company revenue targets. Leadership Expectations The General Manager will be expected to be a visible and accountable leader within the company. This is a hands-on management position, and the successful candidate should be comfortable spending time both in the office and in the field. We are looking for someone who: Leads by example and holds themselves and others accountable. Makes sound business decisions and understands the importance of profitability. Communicates effectively with employees, customers, and ownership. Can balance immediate operational needs with long-term company growth. Is proactive rather than reactive. Takes ownership of problems and follows them through to resolution. Builds a positive, professional, and safety-focused company culture. Qualifications 5+ years of management experience, preferably in traffic control, construction, utility services, road construction, or a related industry. Proven experience managing employees and day-to-day business operations. Experience with sales, estimating, business development, or customer relationship management. Strong understanding of job costing, labor management, scheduling, and profitability. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships. Comfortable working in both office and field environments. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Strong computer and administrative skills. Traffic control industry experience is strongly preferred. Experience with traffic control plans, work-zone safety, permitting, and/or local agency requirements is a significant plus.
