CableSouth seeks a motivated and experienced Construction Manager. The Construction Manager oversees the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of telecommunications construction projects within an assigned market or territory. This position provides day-to-day leadership to field operations and ensures projects are completed in accordance with customer specifications, construction standards, schedules, budgets, and safety requirements. The Construction Manager serves as a key link between field crews, subcontractors, project management, customers, and company leadership. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader with strong knowledge of FTTH construction and the ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage day-to-day construction activities for multiple assigned projects. Direct and coordinate internal crews, subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and field resources. Monitor daily production and ensure crews meet established project schedules and production goals. Review project plans, scopes of work, prints, specifications, and customer requirements before and during construction. Oversee all aerial and underground construction activities including boring, trenching, plowing, excavation, conduit placement, handhole placement, fiber placement, restoration, and other OSP construction activities. Ensure required utility locates are completed, and crews comply with applicable 811 and damage-prevention requirements. Monitor utility strikes, property damage, restoration issues, and other field incidents and ensure they are immediately reported, documented, and addressed. Conduct regular field visits to evaluate production, workmanship, safety, equipment utilization, and overall project performance. Identify production delays, resource constraints, utility conflicts, permitting issues, design conflicts, and other obstacles that could impact project completion. Develop and implement corrective action plans when projects fall behind schedule or fail to meet quality or production expectations. Coordinate with leadership regarding project schedules, manpower, equipment, materials, production, and customer requirements. Manage subcontractor performance and hold construction partners accountable for production, quality, safety, documentation, and contractual requirements. Ensure field personnel and subcontractors understand the approved scope of work and do not perform unauthorized out-of-scope work. Identify potential change-order conditions and communicate them to the appropriate Project Manager or company representative before additional work is performed whenever practicable. Ensure daily production reports, photographs, bore logs, redlines, as-builts, GPS information, material documentation, and other required project records are accurate and submitted timely. Assist with project closeout and ensure documentation necessary for customer approval and billing is complete. Monitor restoration activities and ensure disturbed areas are restored in accordance with customer, municipality, property-owner, and project requirements. Maintain professional relationships with customers, municipalities, inspectors, subcontractors, property owners, and other project stakeholders. Participate in customer meetings and provide accurate updates regarding production, schedules, delays, and project status. Enforce company safety policies and applicable OSHA, DOT, customer, and regulatory requirements. Conduct or participate in safety meetings, jobsite inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions. Ensure company vehicles, construction equipment, tools, and materials are properly utilized and maintained. Assist with manpower planning, crew allocation, equipment utilization, and scheduling across multiple projects. Review project performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, minimize damages, and increase profitability. Develop Foremen, Supervisors, and other field leaders and establish clear expectations for performance and accountability. Address performance issues promptly and escalate significant operational, safety, personnel, or customer concerns to leadership. Perform other duties as necessary to support successful field operations.
