Project Manager / VP of Operations Position Summary Doss Enterprises is seeking an experienced Dirt Excavation Superintendent to oversee and direct all field operations on large-scale, multimillion-dollar excavation and site development projects. This position is responsible for managing earthwork production, utility installation, blasting coordination, workforce leadership, equipment utilization, safety compliance, schedule performance, and cost control while delivering exceptional project results. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing heavy civil construction projects involving mass excavation, grading, underground utilities, blasting operations, haul road construction, and site development. The Superintendent must be a results-driven leader capable of maximizing production, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring efficient utilization of labor and equipment resources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution Lead all daily field operations on large-scale earthmoving and site development projects. Direct and supervise foremen, operators, laborers, truck drivers, subcontractors, and utility crews. Develop and execute work plans to meet project schedules, budgets, and production goals. Coordinate excavation, grading, embankment, utility installation, and site development activities. Monitor daily production quantities and adjust resources to optimize efficiency. Ensure projects achieve or exceed performance expectations while maintaining quality standards. Drive accountability and a high-performance culture among field personnel. Earthwork & Excavation Management Manage mass excavation, rock excavation, grading, cut/fill balancing, and embankment construction activities. Interpret grading plans, site plans, utility plans, and project specifications. Coordinate equipment deployment to maximize production and minimize downtime. Oversee GPS machine control operations and grade control systems. Monitor compaction testing and ensure compliance with project requirements. Utility & Pipe Installation Oversee installation of: Storm sewer systems Sanitary sewer systems Water distribution systems Force mains Drainage structures Culverts and related infrastructure Ensure proper trenching, bedding, backfill, and testing procedures are followed. Coordinate inspections and utility acceptance requirements. Blasting Operations Coordinate blasting activities with specialized contractors. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to blasting. Manage excavation sequencing before and after blasting activities. Maintain site safety and communication protocols during blasting operations. Scheduling & Production Tracking Develop short-term and long-term project execution plans. Monitor progress against schedules using daily production tracking. Coordinate manpower, transportation, materials, and equipment resources. Identify and resolve project obstacles proactively. Participate in planning meetings and project updates. HCSS & Technology Utilization Utilize HCSS HeavyJob, Dispatcher, and related software platforms for: Daily reporting Production tracking Cost coding Equipment utilization monitoring Labor tracking Productivity analysis Interpret project performance data and implement corrective actions as necessary. Collaborate with Project Managers to improve field efficiency and project profitability. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections. Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions. Promote a culture of safety and accountability throughout the project team. Client & Stakeholder Relations Maintain positive working relationships with owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors. Participate in project meetings and represent the company professionally. Proactively address project concerns and field conflicts. Required Qualifications Experience Minimum 7-10 years of heavy civil construction experience . Minimum 5 years of superintendent or senior foreman experience managing large-scale excavation projects. Demonstrated experience overseeing multimillion-dollar site development or earthmoving projects.

Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred:
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in: Construction Management Civil Engineering Engineering Technology Construction Technology Related field Equivalent combinations of education and extensive field experience will be considered.
