Job Description
VCI is currently seeking an onsite full-time experienced Construction Management Support (CM) professional to provide technical oversight, field verification, documentation control, and quality assurance support for active construction projects within a VA Medical Center environment. This role supports the
VHA , COR
, and project stakeholders by ensuring construction activities comply with contract requirements, VA standards, codes, and medical facility operational constraints.Required Qualification:
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Minimum 10 years of experience in Design, Engineering and Construction Management for Large Capital Projects/Programs Be able to pass a background check that includes validation of at least 3 years living in the US. Eligible to work in the US. Have a valid driver's license.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture from an accredited university Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Experience supporting VA Medical Center construction projects over $30M Familiarity with VA standards, specifications, and federal construction processes. Experience coordinating with commissioning agents and managing complex phasing. Owner's representative experience for the federal government Design and construction management experience for medical facilities over $30M Other Skills and Knowledge:
Coordinate submittal reviews, manage the full submittal process, and maintain the submittal register. Evaluate contractor submittals to ensure materials and methods meet project specifications, VA standards/codes, and VAMC requirements. Document, monitor, and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) and ensure timely responses. Review and track project schedules with focus on milestones, phasing, workflow, material delivery timelines, and testing dates. Perform field verification of as-built drawings and update documentation as construction progresses. Inspect ongoing construction work, identify non‑conforming work to the COR, and flag items requiring correction or troubleshooting. Conduct thorough site inspections, weekly safety inspections, and coordinate with the CX agent to identify defects and omissions. Compile defect/omission lists and provide them to the COR for determination of corrective actions. Produce observation reports, defect/omission lists, site safety reports (including follow‑up and closeout), modification narratives, sketches, and drawings as required. Basic knowledge of all engineering disciplines for hospital construction. Strong verbal communication skills to brief owner during project update briefings. Strong organizational skills to track projects, prepare meeting minutes, and meet required deadlines. Most work will be completed during normal business with occasional night, holiday, and weekend required. Must be able to communicate fluently in English. Must be familiar with and able to use the Microsoft Suite of Services, including Teams, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and basic Excel skills. Must be able to work in all weather conditions, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, walk long distances on rough and uneven surfaces, stand for long periods, lift construction materials to access inspections, climb ladders and scaffolding, and navigate typical civil construction site obstacles.
