Lead Field Inspector / HERS Rater About Desert Skies Energy Desert Skies Energy, founded in 2014, is a small but steadily growing company with less than 15 employees. We specialize in energy efficiency testing, inspections for new construction, and green building certifications for multifamily projects in the greater Phoenix area.

Position Overview As a Lead Field Inspector, you will directly support our Field Operations Manager with day-to-day operations. You will be a resource for field staff for diagnostics and best-practices and be a leader to our team by ensuring effective completion of scopes of work and communication with clients regarding expectations for code and above-code programs. The position entails inspection of single-family homes and multifamily projects according to several above-code programs (HERS, ENERGY STAR) and local energy codes. Responsibilities include traveling to and from jobsites, communicating with project managers, and conducting inspections using specific checklists. Training is provided for a minimum of 8 weeks or until you demonstrate consistent proficiency. Our ideal candidate has held a HERS rater certification in active and good standing for a minimum of three years and has a minimum of 5 years construction experience. Pay is commensurate with experience. A positive attitude is a must. Field Inspections - Task Overview Perform diagnostic testing, including blower door tests, duct leakage tests, room pressure tests, static pressure measurements, ventilation flow testing, andACCA 310 HVAC
grading. Conduct pre-drywall inspections focusing on air barriers, air sealing, insulation, and HVAC systems. Down time is spent in our Gilbert office between field visits. On certain days, multiple hours of driving to and from jobsites will be required. You'll be paid for the driving. Coordination & Miscellaneous - Task Overview Coordinate with builders and project managers for scheduling and reporting results. Follow detailed checklists and utilize proprietary software to conduct inspections. Use a personal vehicle during the training period (company vehicle may be provided later). Analyst ICC Certifications Physical Requirements Applicants must: Routinely lift 50-60 pounds Climb ladders safely Enter and remain on roofs or in attics for up to 15 minutes, even in high summer heat A personal vehicle is required during the initial training period, with mileage reimbursed at the IRS rate. A clean driving record, proof of insurance, and successful background check are mandatory.
