Job Description

Our esteemed client, a well-established engineering consulting firm in the dynamic San Francisco Bay Area, has engaged our services to identify a Construction Inspector for a high-profile, long-term pipeline replacement project in the East Bay. With over 23 years of success, this firm specializes in civil engineering, environmental services, water resources engineering, and construction management across California. The firm has secured multi-year projects extending well into 2023 and beyond. They have a reputation for excellence as a trusted partner with repeat clients, known for delivering exceptional services and maintaining long-standing industry relationships. This role will be onsite in San Francisco, working closely with the construction management team across various city locations. This is an onsite position and subject to prevailing wage.

What you will do:
Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such utilities, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines. Assures that the construction work is performed and completed in accordance with the contract documents, plans, specifications, and permitting requirements. Conducts full surveillance and inspection of the work, monitors the Contractor's quality process, and coordinates field sampling and testing for verification of quality results as needed. Prepares daily inspection/construction reports and maintain accurate records of tests and inspections. Provide regular updates to project managers, engineers, and other staff as required. Will assist the Resident Engineer through coordinating all inspection activities, compiling all daily inspection records, reviewing field construction related submittals, inspecting all material and equipment arriving on site, monitoring resolution of all quality issues and leading the Substantial Completion and Final Completion inspections. These disciplines may include, but are not limited to civil, piping, welding, corrosion, tunneling, mechanical, electrical/instrumentation, structural, in-factory inspections, geotechnical and surveying. Collaborate with other Field Representatives/Inspectors and Project Managers. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents. Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses. Communicate effectively with team members to relay inspection results, project status, and potential risks. Perform other duties as needed as required by business needs.
Who you are:
5+ years' experience in infrastructure, construction, construction management. Inspection with a preferred focus on utilities, water and wastewater infrastructure. Ability to interpret construction schedules, methods, plans and contract documents (plans and specifications). Knowledge of California Building Codes. Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications. OSHA training and ISO certification preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation:
The current prevailing wage is $61.39 to $95.99/hour with prevailing wage benefits included in the higher dollar amount in this range. (i.e. vacation, medical, etc.) This position falls under Building/Construction Inspector and Field Soils and Material Tester, Group 2 for prevailing wage.
