In this specialized role, you will be the primary liaison between our HVAC contracting partners and municipal building departments across California. You will navigate the complexities of Title 24 compliance, local setbacks, and permit submittal requirements to ensure our projects move from plan to approval without delay. If you have a knack for technical documentation and thrive on solving the "puzzle" of local building codes, this is the perfect opportunity to grow with an industry leader in energy consulting. Responsibilities Manage the end-to-end permit lifecycle , including preparing submittal sets, filing applications, and tracking approval status for residential and commercial HVAC projects. Review technical documents such as site plans, equipment setbacks, and Title 24 reports to ensure they meet specific city and county requirements (e.g., San Diego, Hayward, Elk Grove). Coordinate with municipal officials to resolve plan check corrections and fire department disapproval notes promptly. Maintain clear communication with HVAC contractors and internal field inspectors regarding permit status, required revisions, and inspection scheduling. Organize and maintain digital filing systems for all permit-related documentation, ensuring high accuracy and easy retrieval for the project team. Stay updated on regional code changes , California Mechanical Codes (CMC), and specific local ordinances affecting HVAC installations. Requirements Strong technical literacy , with the ability to read and interpret site plans, equipment specifications, and energy compliance forms. Exceptional attention to detail to catch potential code conflicts before they reach the plan checker. Excellent communication skills , with a professional and persistent approach when working with government agencies and contractors. Proficiency in digital document management and familiarity with project tracking or bookkeeping software. Ability to prioritize multiple projects across different jurisdictions in a fast-paced environment.
