Job Title:
Certified Welding Inspector Job Description We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support growing structural steel inspection demands throughout Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The individual will perform field inspections on commercial construction projects and structural steel fabrication operations to verify compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, and quality standards. Responsibilities Inspect structural steel welding and erection activities. Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports. Coordinate with contractors and project teams. Work closely with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and contractors to resolve quality issues and ensure project compliance. Manage inspections across a multi-state territory with frequent travel. Essential Skills Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. 3+ years of structural steel inspection experience. Experience in commercial construction projects. Knowledge of
AWS D1.1
welding codes and structural steel standards. Ability to perform welding inspections, quality assurance reviews, and documentation. Experience reviewing fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and construction documents. Effective communication skills with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and engineers. Ability to work independently across multiple job sites. Understanding of jobsite safety requirements and construction best practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector certification. Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Certification. Additional NDT certifications. Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or data center projects. Experience inspecting both fabrication shop and field-installed structural steel. Work Environment This is a hybrid field-based role with travel throughout the region. Projects include commercial developments, industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and emerging data center construction projects. The majority of time will be spent performing inspections at construction sites and fabrication shops. The role offers significant autonomy with the ability to manage inspection schedules independently. It involves a collaborative environment working alongside project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients, with the opportunity to support high-profile projects across multiple states. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
