Delaware City, DE NES Fircroft is partnered with a leading chemical manufacturing organization seeking a Mechanical Integrity Inspector to support reliability, compliance, and inspection programs across critical processing facilities and based in Delaware City, DE. This position will provide inspection and technical program support for equipment inspection, testing, and repair activities within the overall Mechanical Integrity / Quality Assurance (MIQA) framework. The role will primarily support facilities in Delaware City, DE and Linden, NJ, while also collaborating with a centralized technology and engineering group that provides integrity support across multiple operating sites. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Integrity & Inspection Programs Develop, authorize, maintain, and implement standardized inspection plans for PSM critical equipment , including pressure vessels, process vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, storage tanks, and associated equipment. Perform equipment inspections in accordance withAPI 510, API
570, and API 653 standards and applicable regulatory requirements. Ensure inspection programs comply with the original equipment design basis and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP). Inspection Reporting & Documentation Prepare detailed post-inspection reports, including recommendations for corrective actions and long-term equipment integrity strategies. Maintain and standardize documentation including design bases, inspection plans, inspection reports, and equipment integrity records. Update SAP and equipment files to ensure inspection plans and equipment histories remain current. Ensure repair documentation aligns with OSHA Process Safety Management (29 CFR 1910.119) requirements. Equipment Integrity & Repair Management Develop, document, and implement repair plans for fixed equipment. Provide field contract administration during repair activities and contractor execution. Evaluate fitness-for-service of fixed PSM critical equipment and support maintenance and engineering teams in developing appropriate repair strategies. Perform engineering calculations to determine minimum allowable thickness for pressure vessels, piping, and storage tanks. Inspection Evaluation & Technical Support Evaluate results from various non-destructive examination (NDE) techniques and provide technical recommendations based on inspection results. Provide functional guidance to internal and contract NDE examiners. Coordinate third-party NDE inspections and manage associated contractor activities. Serve as Authorized Inspector for PSM critical pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks. Approve inspections, testing activities, and alterations in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Corrosion Monitoring & Program Management Manage and implement the PSAIM® Corrosion Monitoring Program for applicable sites. Estimate remaining equipment life using appropriate RAGAGEP methodologies. Quality Assurance & Equipment Fabrication Develop Quality Assurance Plans for fabrication of new equipment including pressure vessels, tanks, and piping systems. Perform and coordinate QA inspections both on-site and at fabrication shops. Maintain the Site Owner's User Manual where applicable. Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of experience within high-hazard chemical processing, oil refining, or similar industrial environments. Experience supporting mechanical integrity programs for fixed equipment in PSM-regulated facilities. Certifications- must possess at least two of the following certifications : API 510
- Pressure Vessel Inspector API 570
- Piping Inspector API 653
- Storage Tank Inspector Technical Knowledge Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.

Experience developing inspection plans and repair procedures for pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks . Strong understanding of non-destructive examination techniques including UT, VT, RT, MT, Eddy Current, IRIS, Shear Wave, and related methods (Level II certifications a plus). Working knowledge of welding practices and procedures . Additional Requirements Valid Driver's License . Ability to obtain or maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) . Ability to travel approximately 40% annually . Proficiency with MS Office and Google Workspace applications . Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills with high attention to detail. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to work in high-hazard industrial environments , including both indoor and outdoor settings. Willingness to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces . Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel-toed boots, hard hat, protective eyewear, and respiratory protection. Ability to climb stairs and ladders, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks including bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
