The Threshold Inspector performs structural threshold inspections in accordance with Florida Building Code requirements and verifies compliance with approved project plans, specifications, safety standards, and company policies. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the integrity and safety of significant structural construction projects throughout Florida while working with a supportive, multidisciplinary engineering team. Essential Responsibilities Structural Threshold Inspections Perform structural threshold inspections of concrete masonry unit (CMU) construction. Inspect cast-in-place concrete and reinforcing steel placement. Inspect post-tension cable installation and related structural work. Inspect precast and prestressed concrete members. Inspect structural steel components and connections. Verify that inspected work complies with approved plans, project specifications, applicable codes, and threshold inspection requirements. Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, details, schedules, and technical specifications. Identify and promptly communicate observed discrepancies, deficiencies, or noncompliant conditions to the appropriate project personnel. Documentation & Reporting Record inspection observations and supporting data accurately and in a timely manner. Prepare clear, detailed, and comprehensive inspection reports. Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy. Submit all required paperwork each workday with the corresponding work order attached. Maintain organized inspection records and supporting project documentation. Safety, Compliance & Professional Conduct Follow all company safety procedures, project-site requirements, and applicable OSHA standards. Maintain compliance with applicable Florida Building Code and threshold inspection requirements. Adhere to company policies and professional standards at all times. Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, engineers, project personnel, and regulatory representatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Valid Florida driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form. Strong practical problem-solving skills in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to evaluate and manage multiple variables under changing field conditions. Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and follow-through. Ability to prepare clear, complete, and timely inspection documentation. Computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Word, eFieldData, email, computers, and handheld devices to enter and submit inspection data and reports. Ability to work independently in the field and communicate effectively with project stakeholders. Education & Preferred Experience Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is preferred but not required. One to three years of related engineering, construction, or inspection experience is preferred. Familiarity with Florida threshold inspection requirements and applicable building codes is preferred. Experience inspecting concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, post-tension systems, precast or prestressed concrete, or structural steel is preferred. Why Join Pacifica Engineering Services?
