Metric Engineering is searching for a qualified Senior ITS/Tolling Inspector to support the upcoming I-75 Express Lanes/MPDB Project in Southwest Florida. The project is anticipated to begin in late 2026 or early 2027 and is expected to continue for approximately five years. The project extends approximately 23 miles along I-75, from north of Golden Gate Parkway in Collier County to the Alico Road area in Lee County. We prefer candidates who currently reside on Florida's west coast, ideally within or near the Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, or Fort Myers areas, so the assignment can be supported without extensive weekly travel or long-term hotel accommodations. This position is responsible for senior-level CEI field inspection duties related to ITS and tolling construction, express lanes or managed-lane systems, fiber-optic infrastructure and communications, ITS and tolling devices, equipment, field installations, system integration, testing, and acceptance. The inspector shall maintain as-built drawings of daily work activities and document contractor work activities, personnel, vehicles, installed quantities, testing activities, and acceptance-related documentation. A firm understanding of FDOT construction documentation, inspection procedures, specifications, policies, and applicable ITS/tolling requirements is desired.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for inspecting construction work; monitoring ITS, tolling, communications, electrical, and related field installations to ensure conformance with the plans, specifications, National Electrical Code, FDOT requirements, and other applicable manuals. Responsible for identifying deficiencies, documenting field activities, coordinating with project staff, and escalating issues to the Project Administrator as needed.
