As a GPR Technician, you'll use state-of-the-art Ground Penetrating Radar equipment and other geophysical technologies to investigate subsurface conditions, identify underground utilities and structures, and provide accurate data that helps engineers, contractors, municipalities, and utility owners make informed decisions. What You'll Do As a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Technician, you will: Ground Penetrating Radar Investigations Operate Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment to investigate subsurface conditions. Detect and identify underground utilities, structures, voids, and other buried features. Perform concrete scanning to locate reinforcing steel (rebar), post-tension cables, conduits, electrical systems, embedded utilities, and other structural components before cutting, drilling, or coring. Conduct utility investigations in support of construction, engineering, utility, transportation, and infrastructure projects. Utilize complementary locating equipment when appropriate to assist in utility identification and verification. Follow established field procedures to maximize data quality and project accuracy. Data Collection & Interpretation Collect high-quality GPR data in a variety of field environments. Interpret radar data to identify subsurface anomalies and underground features. Analyze field conditions and determine the most effective scanning methods. Differentiate between utilities, structural elements, and natural subsurface conditions whenever possible. Verify findings through multiple scanning methods and field observations. Assist in preparing field sketches, utility maps, and project documentation. Field Documentation Record detailed field notes and observations. Capture photographs of project sites and completed investigations. Maintain accurate digital project records. Document utility locations, scan results, and field conditions. Complete daily reports and production summaries. Upload project data and organize electronic files according to company standards. Communicate project findings to supervisors and project managers. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Safely operate and maintain company-issued equipment, including: Ground Penetrating Radar systems Concrete scanning equipment GPS-enabled mobile devices Tablets and field software Utility marking equipment Measuring wheels Digital cameras Company vehicles Perform daily inspections of equipment. Clean, calibrate, and maintain equipment to ensure reliable performance. Report equipment issues promptly. Project Support Work alongside engineers, project managers, utility locators, contractors, and survey crews. Assist with pre-construction investigations and subsurface assessments. Support infrastructure, transportation, commercial, industrial, and municipal projects. Help identify potential underground conflicts before excavation or construction begins. Maintain high standards for accuracy, quality, and customer service.

Successful candidates should be comfortable:

Traveling throughout assigned regions. Traveling to commercial, industrial, municipal, and remote project locations. Working independently in the field. Representing the company professionally while traveling. Customer Service Communicate professionally with contractors, engineers, architects, municipalities, utility owners, and property managers. Explain field findings and project results when appropriate. Maintain positive relationships with customers and project stakeholders. Provide timely project updates and communicate scheduling needs. Deliver exceptional customer service while representing the company. Safety Responsibilities Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Conduct job hazard assessments before beginning field work. Maintain situational awareness around construction activities, traffic, and active job sites. Safely operate company vehicles and field equipment. Participate in regular safety meetings and ongoing training. Report safety concerns and incidents immediately. Quality Assurance Ensure accurate and repeatable GPR investigations. Verify project findings using accepted field procedures. Review field documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maintain company quality standards on every project. Continuously improve technical knowledge through training and field experience. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying environments. Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Previous Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) experience. Experience with concrete scanning. Utility locating experience. Construction, engineering, surveying, geophysics, or utility industry experience. Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays. Experience interpreting GPR data. Familiarity with utility mapping and field documentation. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred but not required). Experience with GPS data collection or mapping software. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Push and maneuver GPR equipment over various surfaces. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work safely around traffic, construction equipment, and active job sites. Maintain visual acuity for interpreting equipment displays and field conditions. Work Environment These positions involve both indoor and outdoor work and may include construction sites, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, highways, bridges, parking structures, utility corridors, municipalities, educational campuses, hospitals, airports, and other infrastructure environments.
