Jog Road, WPB 34684 Highly responsible, specialized supervisory work responsible for directing investigations of unsafe structures, evaluating structural and safety conditions, and applying technical expertise and judgment to determine appropriate enforcement or corrective actions to abate unsafe conditions. Develops and implements procedures to ensure that structures within the County comply with the Florida Building Code, including applicable local amendments and Florida Statutes, to mitigate unsafe conditions. Work involves assigning, directing, training, and supervising a team of inspectors and clerical support staff involved in the abatement of unsafe buildings and systems, code enforcement and life safety issues, and specialized consumer matters. General supervision is received from the Assistant Deputy of Inspections, who provides guidance on Division policies and complex or sensitive matters. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following: Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of 10 years of combined experience in construction work as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Code Official, Contractor, Construction Superintendent, Inspector, Plans Examiner, or related work which involves examining construction plans or inspecting construction work for code compliance, with five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualified applicants MUST possess the following at time of application: A State of Florida License as a Residential Inspector AND a State of Florida License as a Standard Inspector (Structural), OR A State of Florida License in each of the construction trades (Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical) as a Standard Inspector, OR Valid national certification(s) from the International Code Council (ICC) and/or another state AND ability to obtain Provisional Florida Residential Inspector and Structural Inspector Licenses within 120 days AND obtain Standard Florida licenses in the same categories within two years, or in accordance withFS 468, OR
