A Construction or Building Inspector inspects new construction or renovated buildings to check for compliance with government safety codes and zoning requirements. Checks building structures and foundations, or provides inspections of electrical systems, plumbing or heating and cooling systems, or building elevators.
This position will work closely with the supervisors and project managers to coordinate and oversee various utility construction activities, including inspections and quality of work being performed. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of utility construction operations, excellent communication skills, and be detail oriented.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts inspections of utility constructions projects, including safety audit inspections, and splicing inspections, to ensure quality and compliance with specifications, codes, and regulations Daily planning and organization of projects for the field crews Pre-marks locates Leads and works alongside with the crews in the field Coordinates with the subcontractors, supervisors, and project managers to resolve issues Attends and assists with customer meetings Some travel when needed Conducts quality inspections at the completion of each project Leads and coordinates the pre-field walks with customers Assist with material inventory Completes as-built mark-ups for delivery Keeps detailed and accurate records of inspection findings and reports Provides daily updates to supervisors and project managers on overall safety, quality, and production Performs other duties as assigned by leadership Success Factors/job competencies: Self-Motivated and organized. Qualifications required:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Industry experience in construction and/or telecommunications. Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point), with aptitude to learn new software and systems. Valid Driver License with a personal history of safe driving record and practices.
Working Conditions/Environment:
This position operates in both an office and field environment (20% office and 80% out in the field traveling to the various jobsites). Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting (up to 50 pounds at times), twisting, pushing, pulling, and driving. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy spring, summer, fall, and winter (snow and ice) weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated. When working onsite, will be required to wear common protective safety equipment, such as safety glasses, hard hats, and safety vest.
