Job Description

With our historic growth, it is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners. This opportunity entails providing construction administration and/or inspection services to monitor compliance with engineering and architectural plans and specifications. May serve as interface on-site between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor in resolution of project issues. May be responsible for project tasks under a Resident Engineer on a large and/or complex Project. The Construction Specialist reviews contractor's shop drawings and submittals for contract compliance, as applicable. Maintains as-built record drawings, project files, and records database including but not limited to specifications, test results and reports. Keeps inspector's daily reports of assigned work activities. Performs reviews for approval of contractor's monthly schedule submittals and pay estimates. Assists in project administration by monitoring internal project controls and claims documentation. Reviews schedules and facilitates resolution in problem situations. Responsible for logging, tracking, and processing requests for information, submittals, change orders, and other project deliverables. Reviews inspector's daily reports for conformance with the project requirements, plans, specifications, quantities, contractor's progress, and as-constructed data. Reviews, assembles, and processes the monthly progress payments.
  • What You'll Do:
  • + Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans.
Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications. + Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. + Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor. + Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date. + Assists with reviews and checks calculations for Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified. + Performs on-site material testing and assists with equipment maintenance. + Assists with as-built record drawings. + Assists with contract close-out documentation. + Assists in construction schedule reviews, contractor pay estimate reviews, and change order management. + Attends and participates in, as needed, project progress meetings. + Serves as field technical subject matter expert. + May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees. + Performs other duties as assigned.
  • What You'll Need:
  • + Associates degree in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 10 years relevant experience, or + Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience, or + In lieu of degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • What You'll Bring:
  • + Reads and understands contract plans and specifications.
+ Performs advanced calculations. + Understands and interprets contractor's schedule. + Reviews contractor's shop drawings and submittals for contract compliance, as applicable. + Performs reviews for approval of contractor's monthly schedule submittals and pay estimates. + Responsible for logging, tracking, and processing requests for information, submittals, change orders, and other project deliverables. + Reviews inspector's daily reports for conformance with the project requirements, plans, specifications, quantities, contractor's progress, and as-constructed data. + Reviews, assembles, and processes the monthly progress payments.
  • What We Prefer:
  • + 10 years of relevant experience. + In lieu of degree, 14 years of relevant experience

Chicago, IL . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The approximate pay range for Illinois is $121,423.35 - $189,918.58. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state. . The approximate nation wide pay range for this position is $110,384.86 - $215,816.57. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
