In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities in and around the Midwest States of the USA, to ensure safe construction, excavation, and infrastructure projects. Currently Underfoot Locating Services is focused on a new contract that is in the Chicagoland Market. Your expertise will help prevent costly damages, protect public safety, and support seamless project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in diverse environments while utilizing your technical skills and field experience to make a tangible impact. Responsibilities Use advanced utility locating equipment and techniques to detect underground utilities such as water, storm drain and sewer lines. Interpret blueprints, construction plans, and land survey data to accurately locate utility lines in various terrains and conditions. Read and analyze construction blueprints, maps, and technical drawings to determine the location of underground infrastructure. Operate company vehicle safely in and out of construction sites. Conduct field inspections on construction sites to verify utility locations before excavation or drilling activities commence. Maintain detailed records of utility locations, markings, and field observations for project documentation and compliance purposes. Collaborate with construction teams, surveyors, engineers, and project managers to coordinate site activities and ensure safety standards are met. Skills Proven experience as a utility locator with a strong background in Radio Detection Equipment/Electromagnetic Detection (GPR experience a must) and mapping. Field service experience working on construction sites with an understanding of safety protocols and site operations. Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and land survey data effectively. For safety reasons, experience being around construction equipment backhoes, forklifts, cabling equipment, and other heavy machinery required for site preparation or utility installation. Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and document findings clearly.
