Job Description
Senior Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing | Fairfield, Texas Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world's top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking a Senior Field Technician to join our Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team. This is a project-based position supporting work in Fairfield, Texas, with the position operating out of our Austin, Texas office. Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading U.S.-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection services in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing. What are we looking for? We are seeking a Senior Field Technician with ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I certification and a minimum of three years of experience in construction materials testing and general field inspection activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience observing and documenting pier drilling and installation operations, a strong understanding of soil classification and geotechnical field practices, and experience performing construction materials testing in support of large civil or commercial projects. This position requires the ability to work independently in the field, maintain accurate documentation, and effectively communicate observations and test results to project teams. What you'll do Perform construction materials testing of soil, concrete, and other materials in accordance with project specifications and industry standards Operate testing equipment and provide accurate assessment and reporting of test data Observe, document, and monitor pier drilling, foundation installation, and other geotechnical construction activities Perform field inspections and project-specific observations under general supervision Classify soils and document subsurface conditions in accordance with applicable standards Utilize construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents to support testing and inspection activities Maintain detailed field notes, reports, and test documentation Communicate findings, observations, and potential issues to project managers and engineering staff Travel locally to project sites in and around Fairfield, Texas, as required Follow all company and site-specific safety procedures Minimum Requirements & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I certification required Minimum three (3) years of construction materials testing and field inspection experience Experience observing and documenting pier drilling and installation operations Strong knowledge of soil classification and geotechnical field practices Experience performing concrete testing and field documentation Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and diagrams Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work overtime, off-shift, and weekends as project needs require Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently and over 50 pounds with assistance as needed Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and other environmental conditions associated with construction sites Preferred Qualifications Nuclear Density Gauge certification and experience Experience with pile logging and deep foundation inspection TWIC Card Hazmat certification Additional ICC, NICET, or construction inspection certifications
