Job Description

Position Description:
Building Official / Inspector Tasks and Responsibilities Reports to the Chief Building Official I. General Overview Perform scheduled inspections and plan reviews in a timely manner; Process semi-monthly mileage reports for approval; Meet with builders and customers as needed; Attend police jury and town council meetings if required; May be required to cover for other Inspectors when they are out (vacation, sick leave, etc.). Building Officials / Inspectors are expected to always conduct themselves in a professional manner. II. Plan Reviews and Inspections Perform plan reviews and inspections in a timely manner; Timely release of electricity and Certificate of Occupancy immediately when all requirements have been met; Building Official may be required to cover other jurisdictions when other inspectors are absent (vacation, sick leave, classes, etc.)
III. BCE
Consultations Provide information such as permitting, plan review, inspection process, and fees to customers and clients via face-to[1]face meetings in-office or in-field, as well as by telephone and email; Provide technical feedback on code issues to customers, clients, and other parties as necessary. IV. Represent RAPC at Public Meetings Attend police jury, city council, RAPC board meetings, and other public meetings as necessary to provide information and to maintain strong relationships with BCE jurisdictions. V. Internal Cooperation and Coordination Work with other divisions in RAPC to provide expertise and / or enforcement assistance (i.e. floodplain issues, transportation planning, GIS information such as addressing, etc.); Other activities as assigned by the Chief Building Official or Executive Director.

$40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
