Job Description

DUTIES:

Under periodic direction, assists

PARISH INSPECTOR

with inspection of subdivisions, construction projects. Contacts parish residents concerning rights-of-way. May perform administrative work as required by the

PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR.

Performs other related work as required. This work is of average difficulty. This work involves considerable public contact and knowledge of construction projects, plats, and appropriate laws and procedures dealing with construction projects. Work involves exposure to dirt, fumes, inclement weather and safety hazards. Work routinely requires the need to perform manual labor. May be required to work unscheduled overtime.

EXAMPLES OF WORK 1.

: Inspects road and drainage systems to insure conformance with Parish ordinances and engineering specifications. Reports discrepancies to PARISH INSPECTOR or

PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

verbally and in writing. Meets with developers or other construction personnel to insure that discrepancies are corrected. Performs on-site preliminary inspections to determine necessary actions. Coordinates work with PARISH INSPECTOR and

ASSISTANTPUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

to determine actions to be taken. 2. : Contacts property owners to discuss rights-of-way. Verifies that rights-of-way have been filed in Parish Courthouse and delivers rights-of-way to Courthouse for recording. May contact Parish residents concerning complaints as instructed by

PARISH INSPECTOR. 3.

: May be required to drive Parish vehicle home and is required to be on 24-hour call.

QUALIFICATIONS

: Graduation from high school and one (1) year of college in civil or construction engineering ORthree (3) years of progressively responsible construction experience. : Good knowledge of heavy equipment, operation and construction procedures, landfill operations, laws and ordinances. Considerable knowledge of construction projects, plans, and specifications. Ability to communicate effectively with the public concerning construction projects, complaints and other controversial subjects, to write effective technical reports, and to read and understand technical drawings and plans. Must have adequate skills in one of the major word processors on the market such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows. Sufficient skills in Advance Spelling, Proofreading and Typing.

License and Certificates Pay:

$13.00 - $17.50 per hour
