Job Description

Legacy Guard Compliance Services is expanding our field inspection team and is seeking dependable, motivated individuals interested in beginning a career as a Housing Inspector.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a contract Housing Inspector opportunity located in Howard County, Maryland. Housing Inspectors travel to assigned residential properties to conduct housing inspections, document property conditions, take required photographs, and electronically submit inspection results. Previous housing inspection experience is not required. Training will be provided. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is organized, comfortable with technology, enjoys working independently, and takes pride in being reliable and professional. Compensation Contract inspectors may earn up to approximately $20-$28 per hour, depending on assignment volume, efficiency, experience, and the specific inspection workload available. Because this is a contract-based opportunity, available hours and assignments may vary based on inspection demand and operational needs.
CONTRACT POSITION & FLEXIBILITY
This is a contractor position, which means inspectors will generally work independently in the field and manage their availability around available assignments.
Inspectors are expected to:
Maintain professional communication Accept assignments that fit their availability Arrive on time for accepted inspections Complete assigned work within required deadlines Maintain accurate documentation Provide reliable transportation for travel throughout Howard County Meet all company and client quality standards While the position offers flexibility, reliability and accountability are extremely important. Once an inspector accepts an assignment, they are expected to complete it professionally and on time.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Travel to assigned residential properties and inspection locations throughout Howard County, Maryland Conduct inspections according to required housing standards and company procedures Identify and accurately document property conditions Take clear photographs of required items and deficiencies Enter and submit inspection information using mobile applications Maintain an organized daily inspection schedule Communicate professionally with residents, landlords, property managers, and company staff Complete inspection reports accurately and on time Follow all Legacy Guard quality-control and compliance procedures
IDEAL CANDIDATE

QUALIFICATIONS
Valid driver's license Reliable transportation Acceptable driving record Ability to travel between inspection locations throughout Howard County, Maryland Comfortable using smartphones and mobile applications Basic knowledge of Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel Comfortable using GPS, email, electronic forms, and digital photography Ability to satisfy applicable job-related screening requirements Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred, but not required Previous inspection, property management, construction, maintenance, housing, real estate, social services, or field-service experience is a plus, but not required
TRAINING
Selected candidates will complete applicable HUD Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) / NSPIRE inspector training as part of the qualification process. The applicable HUD online training is available at no cost, and candidates should plan approximately two hours for the initial training materials assigned by Legacy Guard. Legacy Guard will also provide company-specific orientation and field training covering inspection procedures, documentation, photography, technology, scheduling, professionalism, and quality-control expectations. Candidates may participate in field shadowing and supervised inspections before being approved to conduct independent assignments.
