Job Title:
Construction Inspector Job Description As a Construction Inspector, you will play a vital role in overseeing local agency infrastructure projects throughout Michigan. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are executed according to specifications and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities Interpreting project specifications and working drawings, and effectively communicating requirements to contractors. Performing thorough field inspections, coordinating material testing and sampling, and maintaining equipment. Accurately obtaining and recording field data and generating comprehensive field reports, including IDR Daily Reporting. Maintaining open communication with project staff and stakeholders to keep everyone informed of progress and potential issues. Recording daily construction quantities to facilitate accurate review of contractor payment requests. Ensuring adherence to public health and safety requirements and proper safety procedures on-site. Collaborating with project staff to address design changes and field challenges. Maintaining assigned vehicles and equipment as needed. Performing other duties as assigned to support project success. Essential Skills 5+ years of construction inspection/observation experience. Experience on municipal infrastructure projects such as water mains, sewer systems, sidewalks, ADA ramps, roadways, and site structures. Proficient with IDRs (Inspector Daily Reports) and MS Office. OSHA 10 certification. Familiarity with AASHTOWare, Field Book, Project Wise, Blue Beam, e-Builder, MetaField, and/or Appia. Clean driving record. Additional Skills & Qualifications Certifications in aggregate, concrete, density, and asphalt testing. Experience on DWSD projects. Bluebeam experience. Work Environment This role primarily involves fieldwork, with occasional office work for team meetings or during inclement weather for documentation and report writing. The work schedule consists of Monday through Saturday, 10-12 hour days, with occasional Sunday work. A work truck will be provided if available; otherwise, mileage expenses will be covered. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dearborn, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
