POSITION SUMMARY SEA
is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Inspector to join our team providing technical support to the 341st Civil Engineer Squadron (341 CES) on-site at Malmstrom AFB, Montana.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be familiar with and adhere to all instructions outlined in the 32 series Civil Engineer AFIs, Unified Facilities Criteria, and applicable building codes.
- Work with 341 CES/CENM Project Managers to ensure construction contractor compliance with approved plans and specifications for various construction contracts. Contracts may be for the construction or renovation of large, complex administrative office buildings, hospitals, aircraft maintenance and industrial facilities, or utility distribution systems.
- Coordinate with construction contractor representatives concerning work scheduling, interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Investigate and report on controversial situations which have either led to formal claims or are expected to lead to such claims by the construction contractor.
- Coordinate with the Contracting Officer to correct construction contract deficiencies, unacceptable material, or work performed to ensure compliance with the contract requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate construction contract progress schedules noting work progress, delays, or other problems that could interfere with construction, review construction contractor's cost breakdowns, progress measurement data, reports of material and equipment used, and field inspection and survey reports in order to compute periodic payments and recommend approval/disapproval of contractor submittals and progress schedules.
- Prepare various documents, reports, and correspondence and maintain daily logs and safety reports addressing the progress of construction and the administration of the contract.
- Prepare construction daily reports and weekly activity reports.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a DoW Secret Clearance.
Knowledge:
1. Practical knowledge of a wide range of technical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques and practices relating to construction, and skill in applying standardized, analytical and evaluative methods and techniques sufficient to inspect projects and advise on and/or resolve difficult but well-presented, factual, procedural, and/or recurring issues. 2. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and structural aspects of major construction projects. 3. Knowledge of inspection and safety practices/procedures in the construction industry. 4. Knowledge of engineering and architectural plans and specifications to read and interpret construction requirements. 5.
Strong Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6.
Software:
Proficiency using MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 7.
Self-Starter:
Highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Experience:
Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience.
Education:
A bachelor's degree in either engineering or architecture from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)-accredited college or university is desired but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to: stand/walk/kneel/crouch and to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.; reach with hands and arms; lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions; occasionally required to navigate rough terrain, work in confined spaces, and operate at heights.
PPE & Safety:
Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary; may encounter hazards or contaminants during work tasks.
Other Work Notes:
Individuals will be required to stay overnight in the missile complex approximately three nights per week (roughly 33% of the time) during the months of April-October.

Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
