Job Title:
Special Inspector Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Special Inspector to join our team and contribute to the quality and safety of construction projects. The role involves performing field materials testing of soil, asphalt, and concrete. You will be responsible for preparing detailed and complete field reports, conducting basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete, and evaluating site conditions on construction projects. Your insights and recommendations will be crucial in addressing construction issues. Responsibilities Conduct field materials testing for soil, asphalt, and concrete. Prepare comprehensive field reports with relevant test results and observations. Perform laboratory tests on soil and concrete and compile result reports. Evaluate site conditions on construction projects and provide recommendations. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and engineering staff regarding construction issues. Essential Skills ICC Certifications in soils, structural masonry, or reinforced concrete. ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade 1 certification. Engineering Intern (EI) with at least 1 year of relevant experience. Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team. Proficient in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Effective oral and written communication skills. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Physical ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 70 lbs. in all weather conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications 2+ years of relevant experience. High School Diploma or equivalent. Thorough technical knowledge of testing requirements. Maintenance of ACI Level I Concrete or ICC certifications in relevant disciplines. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Willingness to participate in and pass pre-employment screening Valid, clean driver's license with the ability to travel to job sites. Work Environment This role is field-based, requiring travel to various job sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
