TGS Engineers - Shelby, NC TGS Engineers is a full-service Civil Engineering firm with offices across North Carolina. TGS is certified as a small professional services firm with the NC Department of Transportation. We have the capability to handle transportation projects from start to finish. We offer a complete range of design and construction-related services, including planning, surveying, site investigations, soil and foundation recommendations, drafting, inspection, contract preparation and administration, and construction supervision. We are currently seeking full-time Transportation Engineering Technician Inspectors to join our Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) team. Because of ongoing work with the NCDOT, we have full-time career opportunities for the following positions in the Asheville and surrounding areas . Engineering-Technician Inspector TGS has an opening for an experienced Engineering Technician Inspector. You should have experience in bridges and roadway construction, as well as experience with material sampling and testing. You will be performing technical engineering work to support Transportation Engineers and other professionals in areas such as construction, traffic control, material testing, surveying, and program regulatory compliance. Your responsibilities may include inspection for compliance with plans, contract, specifications, and standards; collection and analysis of field data for work completed or record keeping; sampling and testing of materials; supporting lead inspectors and lower-level technicians on larger, more complex projects or lead inspector if you have the qualifications. For this position, you should be able to analyze and interpret construction plans while evaluating and applying engineering judgement to plan interpretation. You should demonstrate a general working knowledge and understanding of highway construction concepts and practices, including those of NCDOT standards and specifications related to road and structure construction. You should be able to document findings and to take corrective actions, and to convey information orally and in writing to establish positive communication with engineering technicians and contractors. You should be able to apply safety to all operations. You may be needed to work around high volumes of traffic, to work at heights over water or traffic, and to climb on roadway structures. You must be capable of working on steep or rough terrain and lifting at least 50 pounds. You may need to work high above the ground carefully, to operate a motor vehicle safely, and to show precision in record keeping. Based on experience you should have the ability to obtain basic NCDOT construction certifications as they are offered. Engineering-Technician Inspector positions require an associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. $49,500.00 - $95,000.00 per year
