p erforms responsible skilled technical work conducting building and housing codes inspections and re-inspections for compliance with NC Building Codes and other state and local laws for the Business and Community Development Department . Minimum Qualifications Building Inspector I Graduation from high school or GED Valid NC driver's license or valid out-of-state driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver's license within sixty days of employment and good driving record Two years of experience in any of the four construction trades (building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing) or similar field One Standard Level I Certificate from the NC Code Officials Qualifications Board or ability to obtain a Building Level I Standard Certificate within one year of employment Building Inspector I Graduation from high school or GED Valid NC driver's license or valid out-of-state driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver's license within sixty days of employment and good driving record Four years of experience in building inspections Standard Level I Certificates in two of the following trades from the NC Code Officials Qualifications Board (NC COQB): building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical; One Level II Certificate in either building, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical trade from the NC COQB One Level II Certificate in an additional field from the NC COQB or ability to obtain within one year of employment Building Inspector I II Graduation from high school or GED Valid NC driver's license or valid out-of-state driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver's license within sixty days of employment and good driving record Six years of experience in building inspections Standard Level I Certificates in all four of the building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical trades from the NC Code Officials Qualifications Board NC (COQB) Two Level II Certificates in either the building, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical trade from the NC COQB One Level III Certificate in building, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical trade from the NC COQB or ability to obtain within one year of employment Schedule Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm.
