Job Description
Advertisement Flyer Performs technical work inspecting, building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems for compliance with state and local construction codes, performs related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Inspections Supervisor.
- General knowledge of all types of construction materials and methods and stages on construction when possible violations and defects may be most easily observed and corrected
- Thorough knowledge of local and State building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes and related laws and ordinances
- Ability to detect poor workmanship, inferior materials, and hazards of fire and collapse
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints or ordinary complexity quickly and accurately and to compare them with construction in process
- Ability to contact building owners, contractors, and the public and effect satisfactory working relationship
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public
BUILDING INSPECTOR I

- High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in residential/commercial electrical, building, plumbing, and/or mechanical construction work OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and one (1) year of technical or trade school training or apprenticeship program in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Construction, or related field OR
