Utility Inspector Job Description We are seeking Utility Inspectors to oversee the replacement of lead service lines with copper ones. This role involves inspecting water mains and other structures to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Responsibilities Inspect water mains and structures for structural soundness and safety compliance. Document inspection results, noting any deterioration, structural conditions, and discrepancies. Monitor construction progress and contribute to status reports. Oversee and coordinate construction-related services on projects. Conduct on-site investigations and review relevant data, including maps, reports, and drawings. Ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations, including safety and permit requirements. Deliver technical files and documentation as required. Essential Skills 1+ years of construction or engineering inspection experience. OSHA 10 certification preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma. 2 years of relevant construction experience. Must be a U.S. citizen. Able to pass a federal background check. Demonstrates technical proficiency and design application knowledge. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with computers, tablets, and phones. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Work Environment The position requires canvassing and surveying areas with a mobile app on a tablet for inspections and photo documentation. The role is based in Central NJ and Coastal North locations, including Scotch Plains and Middlesex. Working hours are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, with opportunities for overtime pay. A vehicle is required, and mileage will be reimbursed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
